Robin Reid - hard hand former world champion
Albert Rybacki - his easy fight who was 15-0 at the time
Jean Pascal - natural light heavy for the world title, won the WBC light heavyweight after Froch
Jermain Taylor - had the beating of Froch until last round, former middleweight champion
Andre Dirrell - tricky, durable and the exact wrong style for Froch
Mikkel Kesslar - Don't even need to explain his quality
Arthur Abraham - never before beaten in the ring and former world milddle champion
Glen Johnson - a man with so many names on his record you'd think he was from the 1950s
Andre Ward - in a world title unification against a former ametre star
Lucian Bute - a world champion, undefeated in 30 fights.

My main questions would be what next?

He has found his level at super middle and I think he could beat Kesslar if they came up against each other again but would struggle against Ward. But assuming he wins one, I feel that he'd do well to fight at Light Heavy before ending his career.
Without giving it too much thought if you erase the first 2 on that list the remaining 8 may stack up as the best list of previous 8 opponents with only Pacquiao for competition.

Mayweather's last 8 fights are very obviously superior to Froch's. Is Hatton really so far behind? There's a different and perfectly valid way of looking at Froch's record which is being ignored:

Pascal - Later whipped twice by a 46 y/o
Taylor - Dominated Froch until a one punch ko primarily due to Taylor having a brain injury.
Dirrell - Novice in his first big fight, away from home and arguably won.
Kessler - Great fighter, Froch lost
Abraham - badly exposed at smw
Johnson - 15 odd losses
Ward - Completely outclassed
Bute - Impressive but untested.

Froch deservedly get alot of credit for 'fighting anyone' but its difficult to see what other option he had. Showtime and super 6 was his only way of getting on TV and making some money. You have to consider waht his outlook would have been had he been able to sit back on sky and make shedloads for defending the WBO. It was never on the tbale for Froch.

He also gets alot of credit for being a fearless road warrior yet whined constantly after Kessler and point blankly refused to fight Abraham in Germany.

Just a bit of balance to the hyperbole.

Hatton did have a good run but is behind this, IMO. Please add to the balance by finding a British world champion with a better run of eight opponents. Froch was prepared to fight Abraham in Monaco. I know, I f**king booked up for it.

You make a fair point, Trojan. Though the same principles must be applied when judging others. Granted Carl is the man of the hour and righly so. The fact he is willing to push to fight the 'best' or 'toughest' fights, whether its because of personal choice or lack of marketability, doesn't matter. These are type of fghts that others have avoided and he deserves masses of respect, which I am 100% sure you agree with.

This is what boxing is about, not 80/20 - 90/10 fights but geniune matches, for our entertainment and for fighters pride. Far too many over the years have taken the road of less resistence and here, we have a British guy who is willing to fight anyone, win lose or draw. Hyperbole aside, that fact cannot be overstated enough, in my opinion. When froch's career is all said and done, history will hold him in very, very high regards, moreso than his peers, I feel.

I dont understand all the fight so and so at 168 and than a couple of fights at LH and retire.

He doesnt need to go to LH does anyone honestly think Cleverly belongs in the same ring as Froch?

Froch is fine at 168. I think rematches with Kessler or Bute first (doubt he will want it) and Ward are the way to go. If he can get two fights out of those 3 foes I think thats the best way to go and the best money route. After those 2 or 3 fights, by summer next year he can if he has been succesful have one more superfight with if he is still around Martinez or Dawson/Hopkins or if he has been unsuccesful in those 2/3 fights , and still needs the money, fight a degale or groves.

Kessler next. I think Carl will beat him in a rematch. I thought he let the first fight slip away from him as opposed to Kessler taking it away from him. He can put that right, and I think leave no doubt in a rematch.

If Bute can have himself a confidence builder followed by a win against a top ten guy then maybe a rematch in Canada isn't out of the question. Cannot see Bute going straight for a second bout with Carl though.

If that scenario was to pan out I think Carl could probably call it a day. He would earn well from these two, he has a few quid already I guess and his legacy is already secure, two wins here would only enhance it further. Why risk going on a little too long? By then hopefully Groves and DeGale will be stepping up to continue the fine British tradition at super middleweight to keep us fans happy :TU:

Cleverly would get hurt against Froch.

His countryman Enzo attempted to land himself in the big time off the back of fighting a fellow Brit who was far more battle hardened. He got himself destroyed in the process, his career in the big league over before it began.

The Battle Of Britain angle sells well and is a nice side attraction but I'm uneasy with it being used to launch fighters in to the big time, especially when it is clearly no more than a short cut. For Cleverly-Froch you should all go and sit and watch Haye-Enzo or even Haye-Harrison.

Cleverly going in against Carl would be akin to laying in bed for 3 months solid before getting up and trying to run a marathon in under 3 hours.

If Cleverly were not British the only reason people would be mentioning him as a possible opponent fro Carl is so Froch can pick up a nice easy title, no matter how paper, at another weight. :TU:
