Honourable mention to Lennox Lewis -v- Razor Ruddock. Many people considered Razor to be the unofficial HW champion of the world in light of his 2 fights with Tyson & the way Lewis splattered him without getting out of 2nd gear was hugely impressive.

Fantastic win for Lewis, but I think its a little over the top calling Razor an unofficial champion after losing twice to FORMER champion Tyson. First fight might have been stopped a fraction early, but he was still down on points and hurt.... second fight, Tyson was poor but still won clearly.

There are a thousand great British perfromances one could mention: Jim Watt licking an unbeaten Howard Davis over 15 rounds in Glasgow; Terry Downes boxing the ears off Joey Giardello; Howard Winstone matching the great Vicente Saldivar for 15 rounds; Dave Charnley getting robbed of the world lightweight title against Joe Brown; Charlie Magri climbing off the floor to beat Santos Laciar; Phil Matthews destroying Tom "The Bomb" Bethea; John Conteh pasting Jorge Ahumada...

got to say when we think of these performances we automatically think of fights from out generation and forget (or dont remember) fights from the past,got to say of recent times jc vs jeff lacey is the best performance ive witnessed but of all, yes i got to agree,randolf turpin beating the p4p greatest fighter that has ever lived sugar ray robinson is the greatest performance in a british ring

I can still see the rolls of flab rippling as he went down from a feeler jab.

Randy Turpin defeating SUGAR RAY ROBINSON. That is an absolutely mind melting result.

That was a British man defeating the greatest boxer of all time.

Beating Jeff Lacy or Lucien Bute, or any other product of hype and not actual results, does not compare no matter how desperately you love the Brit who exposed them.

The John Conteh choice is probably my favourite.

So many to choose from but Froch's crushing win over Bute ranks right up there. Everything was on display, the power, fitness, strength, accuracy, ability to absorb a good shot, finishing instinct...the lot.

Many great calls but the words 'Lacy' and 'Bute' do not belong in the same sentence as 'Sugar Ray Robinson', unless it includes the phrase "pisses on them both from a great height".
