Think people be entitled to refund as it won't be pro boxing! Froch fight was great night last week !

Haha you love it don't you. Will you still go to Haye-Chisora if it's not a pro fight? I went boxing here on friday night, saw that Pownceby who's rated highly by WBO, he was very lucky to get a TD after a cut. Cleverly would hammer him, hope it doesn't happen. The guy he beat (luckily) was a super middle really.

There was 3 other pro fights, all very competative. I enjoyed it. It was only $40 about 20 quid British. Why don't you come over for the cricket in Feb/march NZ-England. There'll be some show's on then, not sure you would of heard of any of the boxers though. I see Kali Meehan is boxing on the prizefighter, not sure if he's Fijian, kiwi or Aussie. He's a bit better than the guy who got caught cold by Danny Williams all those years ago.

If the EBU suspends Luxemburg - I have a couple of questions.

1) What happens to the Luxemberg proffesional fighters and fight cards in Luxemberg (I assume they will have to wait for a new Luxemburg federation before they can resume their careers in their native country)..... if Luxemberg currently have active boxers, could these fighters seek legal action against the current Luxemberg Federation and all involved in the Chisora vs Haye.

2) If Chisora vs Haye becomes as part of an EBF style show..... what does this mean for those sanctioning bodies who are involved in this bill (Currently) - surely a WBA title fight cannot feature on an EBF style show.

The show will not be unlicensed as it has WBA and WBO sanction, their officials etc. If they pull out due to the absence of BBBofC or Luxembourg sanction, that's where it becomes difficult. And if it goes ahead with WBA and WBO sanction, what will the BBBofC's future relationship with those bodies be and how will it affect British fighters who hold titles of those bodies? Messy.

I really cannot see the WBO/WBA continuing to support a show that not affilated with any European governing body (if Luxemberg is suspended, then who will be the governing body to licence it).

When New York commision threatend to stop Cotto vs Margarito 2 - the WBC was powerless to it.

Unsurprisingly given the wealth in Luxembourg, they only appear to have one active pro fighter and he lives, fights and is licensed in France.
I thought it would be a moot point - I still think though this whole fight is taking the piss out of the country. There maybe an individual in Luxemberg who wants to set up some boxing show.

Luxembourg in name only, its prime movers appear to be British. The geography of this scenario is all fucked up, yet that's what the argument appears to boil down to now.

What's allowed to happen in Germany (under the Austrian federation) is not allowed in Britain (under Luxembourg) it seems. Quite how the EBU can argue that point I don't understand. Reflects badly on them if they play favourites here, particularly as BBBofC Chairman Charlie Giles is also a vice president of the EBU (and WBC).

Maybe they consider the Austrian federation more ligitimate than a federation without any fighters and run off the back of a mobile phone in South London

The BBB of C have to sit back and calmly watch what happens , and if it goes ahead , carefully consider what its going to do . They have made it clear that anyone involved , who holds a licence , will be brought before them . They cannot at the moment pre-judge their decisions , but I think it looks pretty clear that licence holders will be suspended , or their licence revoked . If the referees happen to be Mickey Vann and Paul Thomas , then they really don't care because they are not licence holders now anyway . If the WBO and WBA have officials at ringside you would think that those individuals will never again work under EBU or BBB of C jurisdiction again . It would also seem likely that the WBO and WBA would not work alongside the BBB of C again . Any promoter , manager , and sadly any boxer who takes part with a Board licence is likely to be suspended , so during that period of suspension the only work they will get will be on shows promoted by people who are unlicenced by the Board .

I've got to ask people , does anyone still really believe that this show is going to go ahead . I really do find it incredible . I haven't seen any mention of another British boxer ,other than Haye and Chisora being on the bill . I haven't seen or heard of how Haye's training camp is going . What doctors and anaesthestists are going to be working the show . Are the WBO and WBA bringing their own inspectors and timekeepers . If Luxembourg are still the licensing organisation , albeit apparently suspended by the EBU do they have suitably trained and experienced officials .

How is this all going to end - Haye hurts his toe - Chisora has a virus - their's going to be thunder storms on the night - West Ham have now arranged a friendly against the Harlem Globetrotters - there's going to be a tube strike - etc etc etc .???

Sadly , this is a fight a lot of fans want to see , could the people not have waited until Chisora got his licence back and Haye offered to donate a couple of hundred thousand pounds to charity ,apologised profusely and asked to get a licence . The fight could then have been a sell out and everybody would have been happy . The simple fact is that people are greedy ,and refuse to abide by the rules which they think apply to everybody else - but not them . Chisora's actions , slapping , spitting and brawling are the actions of a coward and a thug and deserve to be punished . Haye's actions were those of an arrogant self-publicist , which backfired big time , and led him into a brawl which showed that he also is a thug deserving punishment . People like those involved in this promotion need to realise that the rules are there for everybody - no exceptions . That's why the Board and now the EBU are making a stand ,and that's why , Glynn , and Tris Dixon at Boxing News , and people on this Forum should be standing up for what's right .

I think it will happen. Its got to for Fwank and BN. It has already done huge tickets and will boost subscribers to BN hugely. I would say its sh!T or bust for Fwank.

Mickey1975 . Cancellation might not be so damaging for the man you are talking about . If 30,000 tickets have been sold at an average of £40 a ticket thats £1.2 million in a bank account for about 2 months . Apparently, after reading so much about the Rangers administration process in recent months , while the chap has this money, he can do lots with it before he has to return it following cancellation ,and perfectly legally ,as well . We don't really want anyone who puts on good boxing shows ( I don't mean this farce ) to go to the wall - its bad for boxing . I'm trying to be fair to everyone - but it has to be said , he has dug himself into a hole .

so...for what reasons have the Lux boxing board be ousted by the EBU?

surely they need a good reason or there will be a massive legal wrangle and the court case will not happen until after the bout!!!

In case you haven't seen it, this came out of deepest Hertfordshire earlier

HAYE v CHISORA: THE SHOW WILL GO ON

It comes as no surprise that the EBU has taken steps to remove the Luxembourg Federation, as the Chairman/President of the British Boxing Board of Control, Charles Giles, is also the Vice-Chairman of the EBU.  In addition he is the Vice-President of the World Boxing Council and it can be expected that the WBC will disassociate itself with the Luxembourg Federation.

Giles took the trouble to go to the EBU meeting held in Belgium on a long bank holiday weekend, yet he would not take the time to give evidence at Dereck Chisora's original hearing at the BBBofC's head office in Cardiff.   He was in the very same building and despite Dereck’s barrister request to give evidence, he left out of the back door.

The EBU vote is not a fair reflection of the actual nations that voted on this matter as the BBBofC has a far larger vote on EBU decisions than any other country, because it represents more boxers than any other country.  That said, the vote was cast without any consultation of the British licence holders that they are there to represent.  It may well be that the Federation takes steps against the EBU, its lawyers have already written to the BBBofC to raise a complaint and are looking at the options.

Whilst the BBBofC maintains that it has no problem with the Federation licensing shows, it is difficult to understand why it would act in this way, especially without even speaking to the people it should be representing.

Both Luxembourg and the BBBofC are also affiliated with the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) who have also sanctioned Haye v Chisora for their International and Intercontinental titles.  The show will also feature the WBA Heavyweight Championship of the World between the champion Alexander Povetkin against former WBC champion Hasim Rahman.

So far 28,000 tickets have been sold for the show, with multiple reader polls supporting the fight, including the Daily Mail Online - the second largest English language news site in the world - which revealed that 71% would buy a ticket or watch the fight on allegedly.

Even in Germany the public have voted to see the fight and a UK trade paper Boxing News poll gave it an overwhelming majority in favour.

The show is being promoted by allegedly in association with Team Sauerland and Hayemaker Boxing Ltd and will be televised live on allegedly (Sky Ch. 456/Virgin Ch. 546).

A full undercard announced will be announced this Wednesday.

licencing a fighter that has not been deemed fit to fight by another EU nation - reason enough I think.

I wonder what Sky would do if the fight was offered to them?
It would probably be a profitable venture but would they take the moral highground?

He needs the fight on allegedly to recoup the losses it made. I think it wont bring in more than 300k new subcribers and 95% will leave following month.

I appreciate that but I was thinking from a hypothetical point of view. If the fights was judged unlicensed, would tv execs like Adam Smith put profits first if it was offered?

If fights unlicenced, what about ticket that been sold as pro boxing?
