As Dan says, he was asking what was up so he obviously didn't feel right. Plenty to work, for sure, on but no reason to call time on a relative novice just yet.

Richard Towers vs Larry Olubamiwo could be a fun fight to see

To be fair he seems a pretty realistic bloke, it's not as if he's talking himself up above his station. Watching last night he reminded me a lot of Dallas, although with much more resolve (think using the term 'heart' is a bit out of order unless you actually know the bloke personally). He's very stiff looking and upright and throws some clumsy looking shots leaving his chin up in the air. His jab last night was non-existant and he loaded up far too much and threw too many single shots as a result. However I think that was as much down to getting overly excited in hurting a decentish opponent (certainly his best so far) then trying to take him out with every shot from then on. He's got bags to learn and at 32 it would be fair to say he's not got much time but I think he's better than he looked last night. Dallas would be a good fight but someone like Whyte is all wrong for him in my opinion and Price would decimate him (no shame there given each's boxing background so far). Bit out of order mocking him though, takes a set of nuts to do what he's trying and be so honest about it all.

If I was MM I'd be raging that Tower's was judged more deserving of Sky's fight coverage than me.

PS - Ref was Austrian, and I'd go so far as to say dangerous juding on last night

It was an exciting, if awful, fight. The ref was hilarious, but not as funny as the bloke that reffed Williams v Airich

Last night was a big test for Towers, terrible refereeing which worked to Towers advantage a couple of times but he came through it and will learn lots when he watches the tape afterwards.Lets not write him off too soon hes capable of being a good British/European heavyweight

Same mate, couldn't believe what I was watching. Johnny Nelson also seemed to find it quite amusing when they went back to the studio Ref was shocking, he didn't have a clue what he was doing.

I really enjoyed that fight if i'm honest. I'd watch all of Tower's fights from now on if I knew they were going to be like that, bit of a guilty pleasure.

Towers v Dallas next please!

Just seen this on the repeat on Sky, comical fight really. Quite a low quality affair, but at least Towers showed bottle to get through it. At the very least he should have been given a count. The ref was bizarre. Fairly good entertainment though!

Towers vs Dallas would make sense next, though I could see Dallas winning it as he is a bit more tidy and neat.

He was out on his feet and should have been stopped.
However to say he is crap is ridiculous he had a bad night and is
learning his way .This is heavyweight boxing one punch and its all over.
He will either come back much better from this lucky escape or it will be the catalyst
to a rapid decline .I hope he learns from it and comes backs strong he has done well to turn his life
around.

You saw him TEN years ago.
You claim he'd had TEN amateur fights.

Absolutely, but I think the ref was inept rather than corrupt.

As for the overall fight, a good advert for heart beating skill. Towers was clearly the lesser skilled boxer, but Tony just didn't fancy it. Shades of Prizefighter when he got a "hand injury" as soon as he was uncomfortable.
