How can you be a professional athlete and not be tested for 6 years as it is?! Thats a joke and makes a mockery of sporting competition, its like saying do whatever the hell you wanna do. I appreciate you speaking out on this Curtis.

It's true - drug testing in boxing is appalling. And with the big names overseas who get caught, nowt seems to happen anyway.

It's a shambles. And you'd like to think that, Curtis, you'd be a prime example of someone who should have been randomly tested, given your success in boxing compared to your relatively little experience etc.

And I mean that in a good way i.e if I was in charge of testing, I'd be looking to test the ex-footy player who is doing remarkably well for himself in boxing, just as I'd be looking to test Larry for being friggin enormous! It would seem like common sense to me.

Maybe they should just legalise PEDS and everyone can take whatever they want! However the downside of that is people who dont want to f*$k their body and have a heart attack at 50 odd will be the ones that suffer!

Larry, the response you got when the news come out was heavily negative, due to the obvious - it's cheating, you could have hurt someone - but I think also because you conducted yourself brilliantly here and people feel let down.

There have been some great ambassadors for this forum. Tony, Martin, Curtis, Jeff, Marc. You were another but you've lost a lot of support now, fella.

People juice. It's rife in life and if what people say is true, in boxing, but it doesn't make it right. I'd have hoped your response was a bit more dignified and apologetic to this boxing community who have supported you through your raw career.

I'm not going to demean your personality; as I said people juice and I know a few good lads who have done so. In fact, if you conduct yourself in life like you do on the forums, then am sure you're a good guy. The fact is, you're in a contact sport; you're in the limelight; kids who wanna' box will look up to you; people who feel they've left it 'too late' will look up to you.

You've let yourself down, Larry and considering the field you're in, I hope you can one day admit to yourself the severity of what you've done.

My Fighter Nasser Al Harbi was tested for the first time in his career in Italy at the weekend.

Trying to justify your actions because 'you know' of other boxers juicing is unacceptable.

You should have been banned for life.

what larry has done is a disgrace but that post is much much worse

he has absolutely no remorse for cheating.

he has lost a lot of respect in boxing for cheating but any remnants of respect he had is now absolutely gone after that post. he is still trying to justify himself and play the victim

absolute disgrace and he should be very very ashamed of himself indeed. But I don't think he is capable of that. He feels justified in his cheating.

I'm really sorry that I ever supported Larry at all.

I for one hope this cheat never boxes again.

Expense is not a excuse, there are ways to fund it, the bottom line is it isn't taken serious enough, if I got hurt by somebody in a fight taking peds my family wouldn't accept the excuse of it cost too much money to randomly test everybody, if I am forced to take a percentage out of my purse everytime I fight to ensure the money is raised to fund this I'd have no problems doing it and the fighters that would have a problem with it are probably the ones that should be tested first

BBBofC need to introduce mandatory drug testing for all major and minor title fights at least. And all license holders should be regularly tested. If it's true that Curtis and Nasser have never been tested then that is disgraceful.

An athlete should want to win fairly and honestly, Larry hasn't done that. Every one of his wins is tainted and he's going to have to live with that. The ban is fair.

Can someone just explain to a thicko like me, what exactly does take place compulsorily in boxing for drugs testing.
In my own naive little world I assumed that every boxer after every fight was subject to a UKAD urine test ?
How much would that reveal ?

AFAIK the BBBOC are in allegiance with WADA. More info on what they test for and their prohibited list in the link below.
http://www.wada-ama.org/en/World-Anti-D ... ited-List/

Depending on what title you fight for will depend whether your tested before or after your bout. This problem has been around for ages but the board refuse to address it (probably down to expense). Instead they just threaten that they can perform random drug tests at any time (especially to new boxers getting their licence).

I wasn't suggesting I havn't done wrong I was just letting you guys know what my mindframe was at the time. accept I have done wrong but also want everyone to see the reality of all sports. I accept two wrongs don't make a right and if it felt Like my two posts were made to justify my actions then I apologise for that. I accept I have done wrong and will accept my punishment accordingly.
I wanted u guys to realise that its one rule for one and another rule for another with the roy jones, shane moseley and james toney situations. For instance James Toney has tested positive twice for steroids and if that was me I would have been banned for life now but somehow he is or was still boxing. So until this sort of thing is addressed, it will go on. Shane moseley has been known to use and doesn't get a ban. Same thing. Again I apologise to u guys for letting u down and thank you ofr the support.

Larry-

I appreciate you candor. I think the sport can learn a lot from you. I understand you won't name names. But I would love to interview you about the culture, the need to use at the high levels of the sport, etc. You can teach us all so much.

I don't know if they allow private messages on here. You can contact me at my facebook. I would prefer not giving out my email here.

Thank you,

Can't add too much more, It's a very bad look for boxing. Like everybody else I'm disappointed in Larry, thirteen banned substances is a huge amount what I don't understand is that if his record is being wiped do all his opponents have the results wiped from there records too?

Insider,
Thanks for that mate.
So, if its a non title fight, there's every chance you won't get tested unless randomly selected, and from what you say, due to cost, that's infrequent by the BBB of C ?
Am I on the right track ?

Insider,
Where do UKAD fit in to all of this ?
I've had a bit of invlvement with them through Ryan.
They tested Ryan after the fight Saturday, but were present from well before the fight keeping an eye on things.
Could that have been an EBU arranged test ?

UK anti doping are the agency that carry out the tests. The World Anti Doping Agency supply the lists of banned substances (in steroid, PED and even over the counter cough medicines etc) If memory serves correct the EBU are one of the organisations that test post fight. To my knowledge I have never heard of a UK boxer being randomly tested (this is only to my knowledge though without trawling the net).
