The sooner everybody stops saying " Boxing is a business" the better, for clarity boxing is a sport and as such the best should fight the best.

Agreed. Would you keep any of the current uk ones?
Yes... But I would urge them to change the way they do things. The sport has changed... There are no superstars. Boxing has become about competition rather then the show.

Fighters need to be applauded for taking risks, not written off for picking up losses and marking time record building fights need to be totally reduced.

I think Steve goodwin and dave Coldwell have the right kind of idea. I think the key is relativity and relationship between fans and fighters. I think that transparency too... The industry has changed, and so has the world around it. Twitter, Facebook, forums... There's no longer anywhere near enough wool to cover everyones eyes.

If a fighter isn't the next joe calzaghe, then who gives a shit. Match him accordingly- give him the best possible career he can and give the fans what they want to see ... Entertaining fights.

The matchroom monopoly has given all the smaller promoters an opportunity to interact and start trying to get fans back into the arenas.
I do think matchroom do communicate with their fans, Hearn does reply to your tweets so does COldwell. The other main promotors do not bother. I think some of small promotors will get on matchroom shows. I can see Coldwell working with them again,.

The Yorkshire Ripper has just started a campaign to support victims of domestic abuse.

However there is concern whether he is the right person to lead this campaign.

It's a reference to George Orwell's Animal Farm. (From memory) When the pigs were trying to get the rest of the animals to band together to rebel against the humans, they would chant the above. When they got power, they started walking on two legs and changed the chant round...

Ahhh, I've seen the film. Not sure this one was written by Orwell though :)

(Can't believe it didn't click as we had to do the book as school)
