Burns UD or even a late stoppage if he really puts a beating on Mitchell

Mitchell may have his moments but Burns is simply the better fighter and has proved it

Ricky may not stop him with 1 punch but he could with volume

Please remember guys Rickys been in with much BIGGER punchers than Kevin,Martinez,Moses and Katsitas all of whom were dealt with professionally has will Kevin.
Kevin is a good fighter who has to prove hes world class unfortunately he wont get the chance in this fight.

i can only really see a points win for ricky. just think he's the better fighter
depending on which mitchell turns up will determine whether it's a close or wide points victory

can't see a stoppage for ricky. the only chance he would have of one is, as billy says, with volume of punches, if he really gets on top of him late on and the ref steps in.
as i just don't think ricky has a knockout in him at this level, be it from 1 punch or 50

ricky's best performances have been his big fights, he has impressed most against katsidis and martinez and i think this fight, being the big domestic fight everyones been looking forward to, will bring the best out of him
no disrespect to mitchell, he's a fighter i like and an entertaining one to watch, but i think this is a step too far personally

No need to talk this fight up Mr Nelson just put all your efforts in to Ricky

I don't think Mitchell is all that, personally.

His career has stalled badly since the Johanneson fight, been nowhere near active enough against good opponents, something which will be evident on the night.

Burns TKO10.

Not sure who Kevin has beaten for people to suggest he's on a different level to be honest.
Really? What makes you think Burns by KO? Burns is more noted for his boxing skill than power. Mitchell has handled 'harder' punchers on paper than what Burns is. I'd say Johannson and Murray are bigger punchers than Burns but they couldn't KO Mitchell. Also I recall everyone saying Murray was going to KO Mitchell...

Yeah, seems to be the logical pick doesn't it.

Burns is looking pretty hot right now, it'll be interesting to see how far he can go. The more I hear Scott Harrison linked with his name the more I

1/9 - Sturm v Geale in a middleweight unification match
8/9 - Ward v Dawson in a meeting of champions at two weights
15/9 - Martinez v Chavez - two more middleweights who have not lost their titles in the ring, plus Saul Alvarez against a TBA (hopefully Lara)
22/9 - Burns v Mitchell in probably the best and most competitive domestic (UK) match up available

Great month for boxing, best I've seen in a long time.. Also Darren Barker returns on 08/9 too I think.. :TU:

I can't explain why, and neither am I regular in the ridiculously pro-Mitchell-Brigade, but for some strange reason I do think that Mitchell will beat Burns in this one.

Burns has a lot to lose here, but not a great deal to gain.

We will gain a victory we should have got when they were matched at SFW and Kevin pulled out late on.
Kevin thinks hes No1 we will prove hes not in front of 10,000 mad scotsmen :box: :oo

Its like the good guy of boxing against the sometimes off the rails but dangerous bad boy

I love this match up but with 3 months to go and both camps fully focused (i hope) i see Ricky edging it...just.

I saw Mitchell ring side on telly a few weeks back and he looked in decent shape; if his head is right he can win well. I won £50 on him against Murray and just think that he hits too cleanly for Ricky (who has improved lots). I imagine a very good bout, both are world class. I feel that many are seeing the results v Katsidis and imagining a rout for Ricky. I think that Katsidis was done in when he boxed Burns; he looked in fantastic shape but his timing and gears were blown. Mitchell win for me in a belter :TU:

Mitchell fans must be on crack or something if they think he's got a chance. Kevin does nothing better than Ricky... How can anyone think he is gonna cause much problems? Mitchell is Euro level at best.. Ricky is top 3 in the world. I agree that Billy sometimes thinks he beats everyone easy but he's right this time. I don't really want to see this fight and will only be there if Ronnie is fighting

If you can't see any strengths in Mitchells' boxing and appreciate some of the things he does naturally then that's your view; it doesn't mean that 'we' are on drugs.

Ricky Burns has done fantastic and really looks good at lightweight. He is a champion and seems a very level headed and decent man to boot. I just think that Mitchell will win; I don't think that it will be easy and I don't think that he will look fantastic doing it.

The Katsidis defeat may turn out to be the best thing for Mitchells head and for his boxing. He won't underestimate Ricky and I imagine that though Billy Nelson says some things on here from time to time, he won't be underestimating what Kevin brings.

I hope both are in fine shape for the bout and there's no head clash or other bollox. It'll be a good night in. :box:

The fact that its already been mentioned by many as the best domestic match up out there shows that its not gonna be a walkover for either fighter. It's a good match up, otherwise people would be giving it the old chants about Burns being given easy defences etc. Mitchell is a tricky opponent but one that I believe Burns will beat but its without a doubt the type of match up that could go either way.

Scotland V England....... Doesnt get any better.
