Enzo juicing
Re: Enzo juicing
im with you on this one mckey, as a fighter/sportsman..you are aware of the implications and you are aware of the 'frowned upon' substances.
as someone said in an earlier thread....we dont all pull random berries from trees and eat them because they are berries....we make sure we know they are safe first!!

Re: Enzo juicing
What I am saying is that a seemingly harmless over the counter cold remedy is banned, so if you are getting tested you really need to be au fait with anything you are taking, it's tough, sportsmen aren't chemists and need good advice.rhino222 wrote:so why have lemsip?? .... a hot glasss of pure lemon juice with some soluble paracetamol does the trick!!Coco wrote:Even Lemsips have illegal amounts of Ephedrine in it.
Obviously the penalties for taking lemsip should differ than for taking steriods etc

Cyanide is found in almonds - but you have to eat a f**k of a lot of them to poison yourself.twenty six wrote:Nandralone.

So if alot of these failed drug tests are getting blamed on banned substances in suppliments carnt the suppliment companies produce an range of legal 'athelete friendly' supliments. Where each boxer knows that if they take it they will be clear of any doping test???

Listening to Kerry Kays speak its apparent that the supplement market is totally unregulated. Even Kerrys own products which have been tested by independent organisations and been given a clean bill of health are not backed/recognised by UKAD. They refuse to give ANY supplement the green light for fear of what could be in them.

I think there is a big difference between taking roids which everyone knows are illegal - or trying different stimulants. As long as their legal people are going to try and get a competitive edge any way they can.
I think steroids will turn out to be very prevalent if testing does begin properly.

I agree. I hate to say it. But I fear enhancements are the shadow nobody wants to talk about.

Re: Enzo juicing
I don't think people are clear on what steroids do- there's this common misconception that they make you big and low on stamina - that's a load of shite endurance athletes have been known to use steroids.
The adaptions that take place are entirely dependent on your training, and the adaptions are very, very subtle. Can be unnoticeable really- but in sports where the difference between the fighters at top level is so small all it takes is a tiny bit more power, a tiny but more stamina. And that gives them the edge.
Also for when your coming back off a layoff - u take roids and you'll cut down the time it takes to get back in shape massively. Your adaptions take literally half the time and you can train with more intensity more often. Your muscle will also be more capable in every sense - stronger and more enduring.
Personally though- my opinion is this. Cheating might make you rich, and it might allow you to gain the plaudits of those who are naive but any victory you have whilst cheating is empty. It takes a weak man to cheat. I think anyone who is found cheating with little room for doubt in terms of medication etc should be banned for life - this is peoples lives that are being put at risk.

Scottish skier Alain Baxter lost his bronze medal he won at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics for testing positive for methamphetamine. He bought a Vicks inhaler in the United States. He didn't realize that it had different ingredients to the UK version.

Re: Enzo juicing
people are going on about how different the penalty should be if you take 'roids' compared to ephedrine.
but..it could be argued that ephedrine is more dangerous short term, it makes you lose weight easier, therefore you do not need to diet properly, and losing weight falsely and too quickly might make you more prone to a brain injury!!
its not just about the dangers to your opponent, its also about looking after yourself!!

Found out yesterday the board have no hand in the ban handed out its the drug testing guys and the board can not lengthen or lesser these bans. They are handled and punishments handed out by the doping agency.
