I am with you, Lovemore got off to a good start, I felt he won the first 6 rounds, then Gairy got going and tried hard to peg him back.

I thought it was close, and 116-112 or 115-113 is the correct score, even though Gairy was disappointed in the outcome, he can be well pleased with his efforts, and it shows he is still someone to be reckoned with, maybe not at the highest level, but he is still a danger with his silky skills and gritty determination.

I cannot for the love of me, see how one Judge had 117-112, but give him the benefit of the doubt, I only watched it on TV, he was there in person, and it's always a different fight on tele.

If you think about it Brad, the only difference between his score and your 116-112 is one drawn rd - not that much of a stretch really

Monty, yes your right? I guess i didn't really think, or bother to decipher the actual score, it is just one point, and i was thinking, when i saw 117-112 it looks like a wide points margin, but then 116-112 is wide as well, wider than the fight actually looked

But as i said, it is always harder to Judge it on TV than live, i have often came home and watched a reply of fights, and thought, "gees that's a lot "closer or wider" than it was live" its funny how that happens.

Yes Shad Simmo, Gairy was pretty upset at the decision, i guess after putting everything into the last 5-6 rounds just to come up short, plus the other thing is, No-one actually gave him much chance of defeating Lovemore, infact many were staying it was a bad fight, and he get's smashed?

I have refereed both guys, and i know both guys pretty well, I always thought it was gonna be close and said to Jamie Myer when he first was trying to set the fight, it will go the distance and be close, I wasn't far wrong.

Both boys were a little underdone, there was certainly some rust there for both, but i felt Gairy, while giving Lovemore too big a start early, came home stronger and handled the conditions better later in the fight.

I know you could never say Ndou is not fit, but he faded and slowed visibly after about the 6 or 7th, which added to the intrigue, as Gairy finished over the top of Lovemore, but was only lacking clarity and weight in his punches that maybe cost him the fight

I was there and thought Lovemore won it 7-5 or 8-4 but I wasn't watching it intently as I was with Chooky Fowler who'd just won his Qld title fight. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a return bout between the pair. If Gairy didn't get off to such a slow start, it could've been entirely different.

Well done with Chooky, I thought you were a big factor in him winning this fight, he struggled early, but stuck to his guns, and your work in the corner from what i heard was terrific, and got him on the way to a win, take nothing away from Jack, he will learn heaps from this fight, and be a good fighter considering he's only had 2 fights, he was ahead on the cards before chooky over powered him.

Cheers Brad, I'll pass on your best. Believe it or not, it kind of went to plan. We knew Jack would start quicker. I was hoping Anthony would pump out his jab more earlier than he did. However Chooky has learnt to pace himself and I don't have any doubts he would've gone 8 if required. Chook has a peach of a right hand and when it started landing, I knew he was gaining the ascendancy. He knows that a State title is his limit but he's proud of his effort. His kids are taking the belt in to primary school for show and tell, so to me that's a success story! :)

Yes that's what this sport is all about, Chook is a real solid bloke and a champion all round guy, he hasn't had it easy either, I worked his fight against Hoppa in Ipswich, but he's since picked himself up and got on with it after that devastating loss.

So to hear about just how proud he is and also his Kids are, makes this all worth while for him, as you said, he knows his limits, he'll never be another Tyson or even a Big Bob Mirovic, but what he has achieved is tremendous He's Champion of his state and good luck to him.

I see it this way, If he was never to fight again, then no-one can ever take away the belt he's won, it will be a prized piece in the family trophy cabinet, and it's just a beautiful heart warming story for him and his family.
