Though I thought Aston would box his way to a decision, I honestly had a small feeling that this might happen. Aston got stopped a few times as a junior in the amateurs. And Hosea Burton dropped him en route to winning a decision in the 2010 ABA's.

Valentine, though a novice in comparison, has been matched toughly as a pro. He sparked Luke Robinson (undefeated ABA finalist) in his first professional fight. He lost close fights to unbeaten Eric Ocheing and Alistair Warren on points.

I think he failed a brain scan - hence the inactivity of 2011, but has rebounded with a KO of Lee Murtagh and now a title winning performance against the touted Aston.

Aston can come back, but needs to learn to not neglect his defence. It all depends now on his mental make-up. Me personally, I think he can still come good. he has a good team around him, and has a good head on his shoulders.

If Valentine is now handled properly it will be interesting to see how far he can go. I'd like to see a Midlands title clash with Peterborough's Cello Renda. :box: Can't miss cracker that!
I think you will find Peterborough is Southern Area Mate but I agree Valentine v Renda would be a cracker

Just watched the vid. Old Ryan does take a shoeing doesn't he. Looked like he couldn't deal with Curtis on the inside and decided to trade on the outside but ended up missing with a few wide arching shots and then got caught flush with a couple of accurate bombs, he then couldn't tag Curtis as he had plenty of head movement even when throwing his own spiteful shots. The ref could have stopped it earlier but Paul (was it Paul Gough in Ryan corner???) Definitely did the right thing in throwing in the towel. That fight was heading for a nasty T.C.O

Ochieng knock Valentine down in the first round when they fought. That was a good scalp for Ochieng. Would be good if Valentine could get down to Light Mid and get a re- match. Still fancy Ochieng...Too smart

I watched the fight between Ochieng and Valentine, Ochieng slipped a lot of Valentines shots, but did get caught a few times, though his chin stood the test, a bit too slippery for Valentine. Mcato who is Ochieng defending his title against in september ?

The way Curtis Valentine just walks up to his opponents loading up, leads me to believe he has a chin, if not he would have been knocked out by now, trust me.

Cheers for that video clinton .

So officially it wasnt a knockdown , but a punch did land so it should have been scored as a knockdown really , although it was more a balance thing i reckon as Curtis wasnt hurt in the slightest in fact he just continued his offensive til the ref seperated them .

It's not your geography its the board's.

Look on a map and it is easy to see that Peterborough is further north than Northampton and yet it is in the Southern Area and Northampton is in the Midlands Area.

Renda vs Valentine would be a great fight. Renda can really crack, too.

not surprised by the result really, you cant look at a 4-2 record and expect a walkover because you dont know the story behind the record, besides that these young prospects are so used to being hand fed opponents that they dont know what to do when they come across a live one, aston probably thinks it is end of the world but could be best thing to have happened to him.

Where does Aston go from here? What are the opinions on Aston vs Adam Etches somewhere down the line? Etches is another one on the way up who seems to possess serious punching power.

Tis a bit crazy innit. The best is though is that Cleethorpes is also classed as the midlands area.

I was reffering to the fact you pass Donny, Sheffield etc to get to it which are central area regions.

I think we can safely say that bout won,t be happening any time soon! Etches vs Carruthers would be an interesting one as would Eubanks vs Valentine.

And we all know what a hot bed of boxing Scunthorpe is. 1 show in the last 63 years.

I used Cleethorpes as an example as it regularly hosted promotions over the last 10+ years.

Mike Shinfield promoted at Scunthorpe Football ground in a tent on the Car Park about 8 or 9 years ago and lost money

Pretty sure I was there mate. It was early on in Scott Haywoods career. Only other one in a tent I remember was Clinton Mitchell @ melton mowbray and Cowdell at aston golf club or a similar name.

I think you will find the one at Melton Mowbray Cattle Market was promoted by Jason Hollier from Coventry

Ahhh. You're right. Was Clifton there though. Did he have Carl Baker on? This is all from memory so excuse me if I have my apples and oranges mixed up. I'm sure Paul Thomas reffed it too and had some trouble with one or the corners (ingles?)

Carnt remember if Clifton Mitchell was there but he didnt handle Carl Baker at the time because Carl was with the Ingles at that time before joining Clifton about 3/4 years ago incidentally Carl stopped Scott Lansdowne in rd 8 for the British Masters an Paul Thomas was indeed the Ref
