Tbh don't remember it that well, but I'm sure it was close until groves stopped him, yes he has nothing to prove but just think he wants to again, hope the cut heals and it happens next, after that ( if he wins ) he needs to meet a top 5 contender and learn to stop getting countered !
Needs to learn how to handle a pressure fighter from what ive just watched (anderson fight on youtube).
He needs to learn many things IMO but I think he has the ability to do so, he has a accurate hard right hand that gets him out of trouble, I find him very enjoyable to watch and he has a nice personality, his next 3 fights are crucial !

Soon as he had anderson in trouble he was ruthless and calculated in finishing him. Gutted only caught last fight tonight the card looked good

I'd be surprised if the Anderson rematch happened now. Groves should give up the belts and move on.

George will put to bed this nonsense that he and Anderson are on a similar level.
He has come on leaps and bounds since that fight, it's a step back of course but I want him to take the fight now. Purely to nip it in the bud. Won't go past 5/6 rounds.

Groves needs to stop trying to fight like Haye.

Groves inactivity was evident to me. Needs to be out more regularly I feel.
Good entertainment, but a tailor made opponent. He was tough but limited.
Nice finish, and dealt with adversity of the cut well though.

WHAT a shot. Love the way the Groves career is progressing now ( though the cut is a real shame ) he's turning into the puncher a lot of us thought he was, when we saw him demolish Samuel in a round or so. Got to protect that chin now...Booth and FW might decide to fast track him to that WBO title shot now, then they can manage his career with a steady stream of #1 contenders we've never heard of.

Groves is great to watch - lovely jab (when he uses it), great handspeed, combos and power. But he really does seem very fragile when he's on the receiving end - Sierra hurt him with a body shot at the end of the 5th and buzzed him with headshots throughout the fight, not to mention Groves getting yet another really nasty cut. His defence is still a bit of a worry too; he's fine at slipping and moving when in defence mode, but can't seem to think defensively when in the middle of throwing punches (a bit like Omar Sheika). He's going to be great fun to watch as long as he's around, though, that's for sure.

Impressed with how he overcame an awkward opponent and the cut here. He needs to toughen up a bit before he is ready to win a World title because there aren't any gimmes about at Super middleweight at the mo.
This win reminds me a little of Carl Froch's win over Charles Adamu, I'v mentioned this fight as key in Carl's career, he had to overcome a bit of adversity (Carl was behind to the point where he needed to win every round and managed to stick Adamu on his backside and win the rest of the rounds) and with the cut here and an opponent who was taking his shots it was similar here for Groves.
Hopefully that's knocked the ring rust off and he can get in and polish Anderson off in a few rounds and then move on to some more fights of this kinda level and maybe even a touch higher.

Cheers for that away from my tv so missed it.
Nice to see a British fighter turn in an exciting performance like that over the pond. Sierra played his part and was one tough hombre and Groves showed he means business with hard hurtful shots.

Groves can hit a bit and is decent offensively but I just don't see him going all the way, he seems fragile and his defence is leaky.
He's capable of winning a paper title against a Sanavia or Stieglitz level operator, and with careful matching he could defend it a few times, but he's never going to trouble the Andre Wards or Frochs of this world.

VEry similar head movement and style I agree. Not been so apparent before but now it's like a little clone.

After Groves had dropped Sierra he came across the ring and hit him with a right hand thrown as hard as any I've seen at Super Middle; Groves can bang! Sierra is a tough, strong man - respect to both.

Picked up on that shot as well, absolute belter. Don't think there's many at 168 who could shake that off.

One thing that is impressive with Groves, and it's testament to Adam Booth too, is how often he makes the opponent miss. It was telling in the DeGale win and the judges obviously did pick up on it, Groves was making him miss and it was the same here, in fact there were occasions when Groves was making the guy swing with complete airshots that had him facing the wrong way come the end of it.

Indeed. what impressed me most in Groves' performance against Degale was him drawing Degale in and hitting him with hard counter right uppercuts to the body.

He seemed to be landing the odd little body shot a lot inside against Sierra too. There was the big obvious counter to the body that they showed on the replay (I think the 2nd round) but he did seem to be landing a few sneaky little ones under the ribs. This will stand him in good stead if he can keep doing this, Glen Johnson did a lot of this and I think it contributed a lot to his win over Woods and also Carl Froch commented that the accumulation of these little shots did have an effect.
Offensively it was a good performance and there were some defensive positives, but he does seem to get tagged quite a bit and (I remember everyone saying this about Froch, but his chin is obviously one of the best) once he gets tagged by the guys in World class they might not be so forgiving.

it's a punch that often gets overlooked. i've seen arguello fights where he lands dozens of them and heard commentators question why he hasn't gone to the body as often as usual.
