Although it was a bit before my time, the 1992 cover of Holmes spearing a young, prime, thoroughly outwitted Ray Mercer with the headline 'ELEMENTARY, DEAR HOLMES' always cracks me up. A stroke of genius.

Reading these just reminds me how many fighters there were to 'risk' covers on back then - so many that it wasn't a risk at all, I knew that they were big names with enough appeal to guarantee half decent sales. (Sorry for relating everything to sales, but we are a business and we can't keep going without them.)

Best one hasn't been posted - it's Razor Ruddock smashing Tyson in the nuts with "SHOT OR NOT?" as the headline.

Iconic, & the first one I ever bought, though I'd nicked a few off my uncle before then.

I selected covers from the beginning of the greatest period. I didn't like the mag or staff 89-91, hadn't really found its form in my opinion. If anyone has covers they prefer, by all means include them.
