While David Price is an exciting fighter & even now a threat due to his power, I can’t see him making it. Flattening domestic level opposition is all fine and good but as soon as a real puncher lands one on his whiskers it will be nighty, night. If you’re fragile as an amateur you are going to come unstuck as a pro, perhaps he can become the new Vlad but I can’t see it.

Not in terms of his attributes but in terms of how the public will take to him. We'll have football writers doing opinion columns where they hilariously refer to his opponents by their day jobs and write derisively about his matchmaking if he isn't fighting a Klitschko by his 5th contest, and the general public will go along with it, asking why he isn't fighting champions if he's a gold medallist.

I like and rate Price but there's a lot of truth in what you say. Tyson Fury gets stick for his competition but he's had more fights and beaten better opposition than Price, and at a younger age. It's just the Boxrec penchant to bitch about the famous boxer and claim the less-known one is superior despite having inferior achievements. See Khan-Thaxton, Khan-Murray, Hatton-Witter, etc.

Joshua seems intent on staying around for the worlds next year which could be a good thing.

I think he performed better last year in the worlds than he did in the Olympics this year. Maybe the pressure of a home games made him a touch tentative.

One thing is for sure, he won't be the next Audley. Joshua has shown on a few occasions now that if he needs to bring the fight he will do. Cammarelle twice and don't forget the final of last years worlds which was a cracker, he threw everything including the kitchen sink at his opponent in that fight.

In an ideal world he stays am until next year, stops Savon ( which he is more than capable of ) and becomes world champ before turning over.

I would suggest you watch their fight again. Savon Cotilla totally schooled Joshua.
Sure Joshua was the much bigger man .. but Cotilla was superb.

Sure Joshua was the much bigger man .. but Cotilla was superb.

Medzhidov stopped Savon at the worlds and a Ukrainian beat him out of sight at the previous one. Be wary of reading too much into any one fight in the ams. Joshua won't have faced anyone like him before. If they met again, Joshua is unlikely to go chasing after him as he did.

Harrison walked to the ring like it was a world title fight whilst a cabbage patch doll was waiting to fight him in the ring.
