He should find himself a new hero though. One that actually has enough desire to at least try and avenge a defeat.
Someone who goes into world class and loses 'just once' and seemingly can't take it should not even be mentioned as a great.

naz has got nothing to be ashamed of by not rematching barrera :x he lost fair and square and subsequently admitted to himself he didn't have it anymore  that takes more balls to admit ya past it than to go ahead with a rematch and get another pasting.

the only thing that annoys me about naz is that he never come out and announced hs retirement he just disappeared without a word.

Fair point about it taking more balls to admit that you havn't got what it takes.
I also agree that he has nothing to be ashamed of, he entertained us for a while and made enough money to secure a comfortable future for his family.
But the fact remains he was not the best (which is the question $eif wanted an answer to). I just think there are much more admirable role models for young kids.
What gets me pissed is the fact that he had a raw talent that most fighters would give anything to have.

i agree he pissed some of his talent up the wall  but i think this is a slightly over emphasised point. naz always had that disjointed ingle style in him and was always going to come a cropper eventually.

i always think naz went thru the weights to quickly  he was a european bantam champ and then quickly went to super bantam and then feather and every1 he fought had big size advantages over him in terms of reach and height and when your fighting the way he does its even tougher to give away big physical advantages.

and if u look at even some of his fights when he was at his best he couldn't deal with counter punchers who would lay off and use there reach and counter punch. for examples of this check out periods of the medina and johnson fights.

I agree to some extent about the Ingle style. It would take a very special fighter to carry it off over a prolonged amount of time at the top level. That's why i have concerns about Witter. He should be fine at European level, but higher up he'll be found wanting.
Because the stlye is based largely on reactions, the older a fighter gets the more they'll struggle. In that respect, yes he was always destined to slip up at some stage.
Another thing i'll always wonder about is, would he have turned out better with another trainer at the start of his career. And would that trainer have been able to change him to a more orthodox style.

Mosley Vs Wright next weekend, and two grown blokes discussing Naz. Madness.

come on just cos they arent gonna do a ward / gatti doesnt mean you cant appreciate their styles, consumate skills and the match up. Personally I cant wait for this fight from two of the best in the division.

I agree about mosely though he aint won a fight for me for two years , not above board anyway but that a different thread. Winky is VASTLY underated and I can see Ron winning on UD.

wheres the one of him flat on his ass in the barrera fight?
This is almost getting as one sided as Nasty's adulation of Tyson.
Naz good fighter, exciting style, bigger ego that proved to be his downfall, got shown up at the highest level Im afraid. deal with it dude.

You know, u get all happy and existed when lost… ONCE!! And if u say that “that was the first time he fought a world class boxer was with Brara” NOT RAELY!! He fought lodes of world class boxer’s (at super Bantamweight) but not in featherweight an tell Barar. BUT when he got he’s ass kicked by Brara (badly) he came back and fought 1 more time with (Manuel Calvo) he won.
OYAH.. here is da pic  !

When was Hamed flat on his ass in the Barerra fight? There were no knockdowns. I don't even like Naz, I never did and never will but there's so much crap talked about that fight, it was jab jab jab all night long, everybody says "barerra kicked his ass" "handed his ass to him" etc etc and it's bullshit that I can only put down to people never having watched the fight since it was broadcast and having a tainted memory. To say Naz took a beating in that fight is like saying in all of Chris Byrds victories the op took a beating :-?

He did take a beating it was just systematic. In exactly the same way Mosely took one off winky, and tua did off lennox, you dont have to smash someone to admonish a sound beating and that is what barerra did that night to the Prince. Or should we call it a lesson? Splittin hairs either way.
But no you are correct I apologise he was never on his arse.
