Uzelkov is better than Simic, but he is not far superior to Bellew. He only managed a MD against Mohamed Belkacem in his last fight, lost to his last decent opponent--who is no better than EBU level, and hasn't scored a meaningful win in several years.

Regarding the Froch quote that he turned it down. Why would Froch move up a weight when he has established his legacy in the division he is in????

I don't see anyone hating Cleverly. There's nothing to dislike about the bloke. But it's a very dull defence of his title - it doesn't do much for his CV, and it will do nothing to introduce him to new fans.

And to suggest that Uzelkov is 'far superior' to Tony Bellew is absolute bollocks

Rather than "hating" Clev, I think a lot of people are frustrated that a British fighter with obvious talent is seeing his career come to a standstill, because those guiding him are apparently too risk-averse to put him in with the best in his division.

And the fact that the fans are being fed a load of bullsh!t about what "offers" have been made.

And the fact that this is an all-too-familiar story in boxing these days.

There wouldn't be if this was just a European title fight etc but as it's meant to be a world title fight, i think it's underwhelming to say the least

Its not about hating on Nathan, he's a great bloke with unknown potential. He seemed as disappointed as the majority of this thread when Buncey interviewed him about the fight.

Yes, because the bodies' rankings are perfect measures of how good a fighter is, aren't they.

I would rather see champions fighting champions and unifying the divisions but to say that Bellew is fighting better opposition is a joke, this guy is a better fighter than Bellew yet members on here would be happy with a Bellew rematch

Taffy, look at my previous posts and you can see I've always rated Cleverly. For that matter, I've always rated you as a poster.
However, you're doing yourself no favours here. Nathan's career has stalled badly and matters are made worse when you've got his promoter making disputed claims in a poor attempt to legitimize the current state of affairs. I respect your loyalty, but you're trying to defend the indefensible at the moment and you'd be better off staying quiet on it rather than trying to reduce the issue to one of Clev 'haters' and bringing Bellew into it unnecessarily.
The reality is that Nathan has had a string of sub-standard opponents given his claim to be a world title holder and it's also hard to see how the guys he is facing are assisting his development should he eventually land a defining fight.

Yep. He does have an excellent win in Campillo, but that was ages ago.

How can anyone be surprised by this? Cleverly is a joke, as is the WBO belt. He's not a world champion and, like so many British WBO champs over the years, does not compete in world class contests.
