I really wish these young fighters would try to be their own person, somebody tell this kid and that moron adrien broner that they aren't mayweather, and for the love of god stop posing for the camera, I could do that stuff with my eyes closed too.
I don't think that kind of padwork is entirely useless, it helped me with combinations and transitions, but it doesn't take any special skill to do, from my experience. I'd be interested to see what the kid can do when im pumping a stiff hard jab to his face and actually trying to punch him on the chin
of course Jamie had trouble with it, he's not used to it, the guy basically says it himself "it becomes inbuilt to the system, its just repetition repetition repetition"

This kind of padwork is almost kung foolery, wingchun like bullshido..they emphasize it as making the kid great when all it is is supplemental , a great drill for reflexes and speed but thats all....it doesnt tell us anything about how good a fighter he will be let alone a "7 division world champ".
I agree about the disrespect you mention, I was cringing when the guy was doing the pads with Jamie and saying, "See I'm teaching him, I'm teaching him!" Wind your neck in sir....

Jesus I've just seen this. It was the kid I was thinking about. It was one of the most cringeworthy segments I've have ever seen. That clown coach patronising Jamie Moore who's prob forgot more than he'll ever know. U can tell from that clip the kid will not know what to do when he's in an actual fight, see how much that pad work and michael jackson helps him then. Moving ur head back from a hook?
My fave bit was "soon to be uncrowned seven weight champ" and I thought yeah uncrowned is right.

I remember when Spencer Oliver used to do a similar segment as what Jamie does now and Brendan Ingle really be a bit patronising at Spencer's technique. Spencer's injury was quite fresh back in those days and I personally thought it was slightly uncalled for - particularly as Spencer was a well schooled amateur and I thought had brilliant technique.
I love these segments from Jamie and he does look quite impressive in the gym - I wonder if he'll be on the November bill.

I enjoyed the feature, i ve watched otuo in the gym he is good, trains fully as a boxer and doesnt just do the pads, which i think helps with his timing reflexes and balance.True that type of pad work doesnt help with your chin but neither does running skipping circuits etc.He is a really nice kid, with fast hands, certainly getting publicity and getting people talking.
Tunde is his guardian and Danny Williams used to sponsor him ages ago-be interesting to see how he gets on, be good to hear Jamie Moore's thoughts about him but i think he will do well

Watched this yesterday- Christ that was painful viewing.... Seemed like he was so intent on proving 'his methods' were best rather then enjoying the opportunity to take part in the show.

no padwork drill that allows you to mug to the camera whilst doing it can possibly be a good thing.

I have to say I agree with most of the posts on here about that pad work being sh_t! But my brother made a good point about the young kid (Sabot?) that featured on Ringsige. Most of us as kids had idols growing up. Mine was Mike Tyson and Chris Eubank. When I was 13, I'd imitate (or try) their styles in the gym too. It was my heroes that got me in the sport in the first place. I'd watch certain fighters on tape and copy what they did. It's what kids do. You can tell Tunde and his boy hero worship Mayweather - but so what!
Heroes/idols are what motivate us to train.
If Mayweather or any other sport star/celeb can inspire kids to do something positive with their lives instead of mugging old ladies and rioting on the streets; to motivate them to train and keep off the streets, than it can't be a bad thing. As for the kid saying he wants to win "7 world titles." ...You ask any young boy kicking a football against the wall in any street who he wants to be, and he'll say a football player playing for Barcelona or Man U ect ect. There's nothing wrong with wanting that.

I get your point about the young lad, but its not really acceptable from a "professional" trainer. Its not like dodgy training methods on the football pitch can put you in a coma. As I said, blatant case of living his own dreams through the kid.

Don't get me wrong, I also think those paddy cake paddy cake pads are useless. But you can't say they're too "dodgy" or too "dangerouse" for a pro to use those techniques ...Not when the worlds no 1 or 2 pound
4pound fighter uses "dodgy training methods."
