Riddick Blowe wrote:None of those guys will want the fight.

Heavyweight is full of these effing useless fringe prospects who are scared stiff of taking a risk.

The only ones who will take the fight are folks who have no other options like Harrison and Skelton (old) or Sexton (not old, but limited and nowhere else to go) and trial horses looking for a payday.

In the absence of a competitive fight I want to see a decent trial horse, someone like Jovo Pudar or Dominic Guinn. Price is going to have to fight these guys to keep busy because he just won't be able to find opponents otherwise.
That is a very good - though depressing - point if he can get a shot at the European title then he could at least use that to get people in the ring.

id pick a hell of a lot of guys over Skelton but i undestand the reasoning

Myself id like to see him in with Mike Perez

But looking at the rankings he would beat the following guys and they would more credence than skelton , some are old as is Skelton but its about relevance not age in my view .

Jean-Marc Mormeck
Albert Sosnowski
Konstantin Airich
Nevan Pajkic
Monte Barrett
Dominick Guinn
Hasim Rahman
Siarhai Lyakovic
Chauncy Welliver
Kevin Johnson

After Skelton, Price should fight someone in the BoxRec top 35 (or someone ranked by one of the sanctioning organizations).

He's more than ready ready for a step up to the fringe contender level.

He should fight Lawrence, Johnson, Thompson, Hamer, Grant, Dimitrenko, Takam, Fury, Chambers, Perez, or Chagaev.

Tyson was past his peak at 30 as was Muhammad Ali - with heavyweights - their peak depends on the individual in question - not making weight helps for sure but it varies.

I don't think any of these 35+ heavyweight would look like they really were at their 'peak' if a slew of dynamic 20 year old boxer hitters were active and tearing down the division - remember when Lewis, Bowe, Ruddock, Mercer, Moorer, Morrison and multiple others were coming through?

Of course all those boys were boxing because they grew up with Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler on TV.

Great young athletes today who might have been fighters right now are in other sports - probably because Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, Lewis, Chavez, De la Hoya, RJJ et al competed on pricey PPV and premium subscription channels.

Well done HBO, Showtime, Don King and Bob Arum. Well done.

The pantomime Princess Margaret.

No, wait. I think Fury's got her signed up.

How about Odlanier Solis or the Fightin' Finn Robert Helenius?
