It has to be taken into consideration that, to some extent, tv pundits have to follow the company line sometimes. When there's not a lot of other big names out there to keep us interested, and the powers that be want the likes of Brook hyped, you cant really expect him to come out and say Brook wont make it to the top, he has too many flaws, Pacquiao would mop the floor with him etc.

100% agree. Always point out to people the double meaning in skysports news. Is it sports news OR sky sports news. Clearly the latter barring a massive sporting achievment. Theyre there to market their product. Someone on twitter said today "anyone else fed up of sky sports news ramming froch and brook down our throats" - hardly going to promote allegedly or channel 5 fighters are they.

I saw a topic about willy wonker being a pedophile in off topic. Wouldnt surprise me.

I was working on the door of the boozer he owned, he dragged some young lad out of the back room who then preceded to give Glenn a working over. Believe what you like pal I really don't give one.

Underground, overground wombling free
Cockwombles of wimbledon common are we
Making good use of rohypnol we find
Grabbing young women from the behind

Glen's a good lad and a good pundit.

Carl Froch as much as I like him now has a history of being a bitter man

I took the 'you won a world title?' crack more to McCrory about him always mentioning it, rather than Froch saying he wasn't good enough.

Anyway, Froch for me is a top class pundit and should definitely go FT with it when he retires.

Name him, because I'm in that group.

Carl avoids popular places for that very reason.

Sorry mate, I'm honestly not trying to dig you out, and the guy has his critics for various other approaches in life, some of which is probably warranted too. But not for being 'showbiz' :D

But truthfully - he is not a fan of crowded popular spaces. After Pascal he opted for a little restaurant with about 10 of us in (word of mouth) and he didn't want an 'after party' or huge group of back-slappers round him. After a bite he went straight home to bed.

He is a rarely out, and then it's mid-week meal when it's quiet- and marching to the front of night club ques saying 'you know who I am?' is really not him, unless he's joking with it.

You obviously aren't that good a friend of his then if you didn't get invited to the post fight orgy that was after the meal. Some of the stuff those birds do......

As for midweek meals in Nottingham. I have heard that one or two have been in Jessops (the JL department centre) in the Victoria Centre as well.

Nelson was arguably worse than McCrory as he twice failed to win world titles then had to instead opt for the WBO route - where he proceeded to win on a dodgy stoppage over Thompson and defend against a slew of awful Euro WBO tomato cans before retiring.

Best thing that happened to McClorys broadcasting career was the fact Adam Smith got the run of Sky Boxing. He was been gradually phased out a few years back and was being used on very few shows. But once Adam Smith got power he is back on every show, I guess Adam felt a debt of gratitude to him as they were paired together on commentary when Adam first started there.

As for McClory himself his best days were on commentary with Darkie, they had excellent chemistry and were a really enjoyable listen. His strengths just don't come through when he's on a panel and he is constantly spouting the same soundbites show after show.

However he is a company man and will oversell anything he is told to and along with being a friend of Smith he'll have job security for the next considerable while!!
