Certainly not great news, I have never watched a fight on Primetime, wouldn't even know where to start to be honest, I certainly won't be paying for an online stream. Is Primetime on Freeview? Virgin Media?

All in all, like someone else has said, it just takes boxing further and further away from Joe Public.

I'm only glad Hatton is fighting someone he can't blast out, meaning there won't be a pile of unanswered questions afterwards.

I'm going to this so I won't have the debate about whether or not to buy the fight but I'm not a fan of Primetime. The picture quality is very poor and the production is also poor. I also don't view it as a PPV card really. Primetime makes me so glad that FW channel exists as, despite my dislike of FW, his channel is excellent value for money at a tenner a month when you consider you'd have to spend 15 on just this show.

I've used Primetimes online streams a few times for the recent Pac and Mayweater fights...to be fair I had no problems at all. I suffered little to no buffering problems and registering and making the payment was pretty quick and simple - the only issue I have is the non HD factor.

I think Ricky has gone with primetime as a stop gap which suits all parties including sky. I know sky booted him off but I'm pretty certain he would prefer to be back on sky long term. Sky probably didn't want to grant PPV until they could see what Ricky has left, primetime as Gomez said probably aren't paying for anything up front and get a share of the profits. If Ricky comes through fairly well or better still in good form my money would be on return to sky box office for a Paulie fight and maybe a sweetner with deals cut with Matchroom for Quigg/Monroe v Frampton and Barker v Murray etc.

SKY boxing have gone mad under Smith.

First they sell us the rotten rancid meat covered in a fancy wine dressing that was Fraudley v Haye, than when we took one bite and vomited....Smith decides the PPV model is now finished and declares big boxing events to be free to sky sports subscribers! Only he than stops doing big boxing events...save for this prizefighter crap and of course froch and brook.

I was a hardcore boxing fan through the 80s 90s and early 2000s...but right now and im a guy who comes on the forums there are perhaps 10 active fighters outside the UK who i am aware of.

In the early 2000s i knew of any top 30-40 HW in america due to kushners HW explosion cards on eurosport, I knew of the german scene via all the cards covered by eurosport, I knew of any decent french fighter (a rarity i know)....and SKY at that time although not great , did cover international fights, and did realise boxing was a world sport not just a british one....

There are far too many pundits and far too much stupid time spent going to local gyms in britain with jamie moore one week interviewing hatton, and hatton the next interviewing mcrory and the next mcrory interviewing mcguigan, and the next nelson talking to brook......its pundit interviewing pundit about their different gym or non entity prospect....

The above is why I'm such a fan of the FW channel even though it costs a tenner extra a month as they show the vast majority of the undercards to fights rather than just have studio analysis until the main 2 or 3 fights and they cover a whole range of shows from the small hall/leisure centre cards in the UK, to German cards and a number of big fights in Vegas.

What about the progammes featuring Khan in his training camp, Pac man interview in the Phillipines, great one to one with Sugar Ray Leonard and the one to one with Tyson which will be shown next week ?

Don't get me wrong, I don't like paying £15 for a bill. However, I will applaud that at least Primetime have an interest in boxing and prepared to go for it.

Pre and even (although lesser) post allegedly there were many many many bills that wouldn't get showcased at all, good world title bills from the states.... thanks to the lack of interest in Sky.

If Primetime show two worthy bills a month, with the odd free bills from Steve Goodwin. I'd gladly drop the Sky subscription and treat Primetime as a subscription service at the same rate as Sky.

I'm with you all the way mate - just trying to put a bit of balance to the argument.
My views on monopoly situations with Promotors and TV outlets is well documented and not worth boring people about.
There is however an old saying - "they all piss in the same pot"
Oh and by the way Rhodes v Woolcombe was a cracking Maloney British Title affair !

I appreciate your viewpoint but I think my viewpoint is fair.....a Khan training camp? never seen that before! and as for Tyson there cant possibly be anything this guy has left to say and even if he does...its hardly likely Smith and Nelson are going to coax it out of him.

VV - agree, plus I think it is harsh to judge the ratings of decent FWP and FMP main events or full cards on sky.... look at the advertising revenue they had on sky. Practically eff all.

Prizefighter captured an audience attention, no one can dispute that. However, it has also had far far more of a chance to than FWP and FMP bills that were on Sky because of the advertising revenue.

When Sky started the relaunch of ringside there were already rumous of allegedly creating his own channel and I don't think Hatton or Maloney were just playing out their contract - not negotating new ones.

If you watch Sky Sports for other sports you will see adverts for Prizefighter, you will see adverts for Matchroom promotions fighters. You never saw a single advert for Rhodes vs Woolcombe as an example.
