Wlad, and that would be sucide (well he'd have a punchers chance like most heavies), but a 14 fight novice probably ranked 3 in Britain against a guy who's barely lost a round since the Lewis fight nearly 10 yrs ago (a fight he was winning) I know who my money would be on. I just think everybody (you scousers in particular) are lording Price to early, knocking out Dallas,Sexton,Harrison and Mcdermott (who lets face it turns up when he wants to) is all well and good after only 14 fights but there all fringe British level at this stage of there careers, besides maybe Price should concentrate on the next step up, European level and earn a shot before he fights for a world title.

Price needs to push on. The only thing that defends this match up is how soon after Harrison it is happening and the fact that everyone seems to be getting an easy touch this winter. Somebody capable of taking him towards the end of a fight will be a start.

Although thinking about it, the amount of contenders around today even compared with 5 years ago is absolutely miserable.
Price never sold out the echo and fury has never boxed at the men!
Would love to see the Arreola fight next year at some point, he is ready for that?

Price is the first up and coming British fighter I've been this excited by since Froch and Haye turned pro, and a KO against Harrison will have shifted him into national consciousness plus he has loyal home fans a la Hatton. Possibly putting Bellew on the under card and a couple of popular Manchester fighters.

There was still tickets on the door for Harrison fight and a block or 2 that never got opened by the looks of things from where I was sitting. I think Fury/Price would do about 30k at the moment. 70k is pushing it a bit.

Price has stated he wants to keep the Lonsdale. Perhaps he should push on to Euro level instead, but assuming he is to go for belt ownership, he will have to fight one more Brit after Skelton.

Almost certainly him and Fury won't be allowed to fight each other. Chisora therefore is the next best, and that could be a great match, but Del's licensing situation remains unknown. After that, it's really only Whyte and Towers. Can't imagine Whyte will be risked, but if Towers beats Browne then his handlers may as well roll the dice with him, given that he's already in his 30s.

Neither Fury or Price are anywhere near as popular as Ricky Hatton, not at this stage anyway. They'd be better in a much smaller stadium as they'd be lucky to sell half of OT out

I agree Vitali would be the better way to go rather than straight for Wlad. Even if he was offered Vitali tomorrow, he ought to think hard about it though. He said himself after the Harrison fight; although delighted with the early result, he needs to be getting more rounds in before he can be certain of his potential against one of the Klits. One thing we can be all but certain about with Vitali, although 41, he's never been knocked off his feet in his career so DP could do with a few fights which are competitive enough to go beyond r6 at least to gauge where he's at.

My concern with price is that he could fall into the trap of just lining people up with big single shots & stops boxing clever to the pedigree he has.at the Olympics he was trouncing people & when he got to camerelle he kind of ran out of ideas when he wasn't on top as he was relying on that power

He didn't run out of ideas against the Italian he simply got outclassed. This happened a few times in his unpaid career. People saying he is the next Klit forgt that the brothers have seemingly never been outboxed!

Price is a cracking prospect and it will be exciting to follow his career but he suffered defeats to Glazkov and Helenius, Cammarelle completely outclassed him both times they met, the little Indian chap in the commonwealths gave him a titanic struggle too. The likes of Povetkin and of course the Klits would have outclassed him in the unpaid ranks too if they had been around at the same time.

The Helenius defeat is worth remembering. He looked pretty special whilst knocking the mothers out of domestic level opponents. Wen he came across someone who could handle his power and fight back, well, he didn't look particularly special at all.

I want Pricey to reach the top but it seems a few are getting a little carried away.

I agree when assessing a fighter it's worth taking note of their amateur pedigree, but don't you think he's come on a lot since he's turned pro?

I think he's technically better than he was as an amateur, and I think there's been a lot of work on his defence i.e. protecting his chin.

Then I'd like to see him take on at least one european level fight, ideally Pulev but he probably won't want the fight unless it's mandated, otherwise someone who needs a good win to reestablish their reputations - Helenius, Jean Marc Mormeck, or Manuel Char all fall into this mold.
