Price doesn't have the power? Granted Lennox was a much better boxer but Price has more power, and Lennox stop him (babbling mind)rhino222 wrote:how does price beat mccall?.. no way hose. price does not have the power to put mccall away, but price would not be able to keep away from mccall for 12 rounds.danconnollyeire wrote:Beats Oliver McCallmisterpunch wrote:david price?

Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
I do believe Laing could have won a world title of some sort but you could've put somebody completely useless in front of him and he'd have found a way to lose.
Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
Oh dear. This is up there for bad post of the year Danny boy. Not only does Price hit harder than Lewis but he could stop McCall???danconnollyeire wrote:Price doesn't have the power? Granted Lennox was a much better boxer but Price has more power, and Lennox stop him (babbling mind)
And Lennox's power didn't stop McCall, you could argue it didn't even bother him
Eamonn Magee destroys Carlos Maussa
But then so do most half decent light welters from the past few years
Richard The Secret Williams beats Cornelius Bundrage

Oh dear you're trying to state your opinion is 'right' in a hyperphetical sitution, which is impossible.Lenny wrote:Oh dear. This is up there for bad post of the year Danny boy. If McCall lost to Joey Christjohn, Mike Hunter, James Douglas, Orlin Norris, then Il'd give Price a fair chance
Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
James Douglas was a terrific fighter when his mind was right, he wasn't the World Heavyweight Champion for nothing, also wasn't Norris a world champion at one point?
Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
i'd still argue price wouldn't be able to hurt McCall seeing as no one else diddanconnollyeire wrote:Oh dear you're trying to state your opinion is 'right' in a hyperphetical sitution, which is impossible.Lenny wrote:Oh dear. "Price doesn't have the power?" Implying that Price does indeed have the power to hurt Oliver McCalldanconnollyeire wrote:Oh dear you're trying to state your opinion is 'right' in a hyperphetical sitution, which is impossible.Lenny wrote:Oh dear. If this is your opinion then your opinion is very, very wrong. Unless you are now stateing that Price could beat McCall on points, in which case it's completely hyperphetical as we have no idea what Price is like in the late rounds

Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
I must be honest, when Mcall was world champion I wouldn't take Price to win at all at this moment in time. Mccall was very seasoned from all the sparring he did with Tyson and all the other top guys at the time. Although he could be lazy and outworked in the early rounds he always had fight ending power, a super human chin and a good engine when he got going. I always remember him coming on strong in the last few rounds of the Bruno fight with Frank doing all he could to hang in there.
It's one thing knocking over the Sextons and Harrisons of the world, but a guy who claims never to have even been put down as an amatuer, sparring or pro is another altogether. At the moment we don't know how Price is going to react as a pro to getting hit clean on the chin by a big puncher, or what his stamina is like in the championship rounds of a massive fight.
Against a big punching, 13 fight novice like Price, I'd take Mccall all day long when he was world champ.
Having said that, I'd definitly have a punt on Price Vs WBO champ Tommy Morrison. He was very chinny and if a novice like Micheal Bent could get him out in a round, so could Price.
Id back him agianst WBO champ Micheal Bent
I'd also be inclined to back Price against WBO champ Herbie Hide too.

Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
It's always hyperthetical. Price could hit Ali on the chin in 5 secs and KO him. Lee Purdy could swing a lucky punch at Mayweather and spark him out. I am not Mystic Meg it's an opinion but if you have the time bending powers to put the fights together be my guestLenny wrote:

Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
There is hyperthetical, then there is predicting a novice could stop a man that has never appeared the slightest hurt in over 20 years of boxing. Maybe Peret holds a shot better than him, I don't know
But like you say, Andrew Flintoff could also knock out Wladimir Klitschko

Maybe Price could have taken out Bruce Seldon given that you barely had to hit him.

Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
theres probably a few heavyweight champs that price could beat - although my original one, primo carnera, i'm now starting to backtrack on. reason being, i now think price is too inexperienced to simply steamroller his opponents out of there. he certainly does not beat mccaul in any world i know. john ruiz would be a test for him but he might be able to KO the sluggish ruiz. the most obvious choice is leon spinks.
Re: the "british fighter wins a world title" game
Anyone remember how crude Lewis looked at the same stage of his career? This is the wrong time to be matching Price with any but the worst world champs, but there *should* be a lot more to come.

true, it was a long time before i thought lewis was going to be anything good - he didnt impress at all early on. price is the best of the current upcoming brits, though.
