Most of the best ESB posters are now on checkhookboxing.com, similar levels of traffic to here.

I was banned for two years for starting a thread titled ''You may take our lives, but you'll never take our freedom'', and bypassed the sensors to type in allegedly multiple times.

I was bored at work and had nothing better to do.... but was re-instated shortly afterwards.

There's no control over trolls, that's people's main gripe with the place.

Coco's point is fine (though I wish he himself would adhere to it more often). With rights come responsibilities. Free speech needs to be balanced against the rights of the individual. Lies/inaccuracies don't qualify as being protected under 'free speech'.

Unfortunately, it's a myth that we have free speech, anyway. If you don't have a fortune, sometimes you have to STFU, unfortunately.

It's a national shame that people with money (or those who pretend they have money) can use the appalling defamation laws of this country to bully people telling the truth - often vitally important truths - into silence. They come from all corners of the globe to do so...

The major problem is who decides what is true and what is not. I would imagine the super rich get to decide that and I consider that to be unfair to the normal people.

It is far more fair to legally allow incredibly offensive lies.

Is it such a mad idea that the average person could come to the understanding that everything that they read might not be true?

Could a multi-million pound corporation not refute an offensive allegation using logical arguments, instead of using defamation laws to shut up those who are against them?
