And to invest in his property portfolio in Nottingham as well.

Perhaps. Not everybody is greedy. Like you said earlier, though, whatever he's getting is a shite lot more than what you get for a proper job. I sometimes think people see what top-flight footballers are paid and somehow reach the conclusion that if a sportsman is not getting similar amounts he's being underpaid.
It's just one of the things that tickles me with sportsmen, I'm a huge fan of Carls but judging by some comments you see on these boards you'd think he was living in dire poverty, after he's paid off everyone he owes he's still a lot better off than your normal worker. I understand some sports, especially combat sports, motorsports and contact sports can have serious consequences to your wellbeing but you've still got more chance of being killed or maimed as a minimum wage construction worker.

Edit: Macklin's official purse for his last fight was $85,000. I'm not sure how he managed to top that up to a million?[/quote]

Where did you get the figures of Macklins purse from? I think he got £60,000 v Asikainen? Seems strange he'd get less in Maddison Square Garden than he would the Velodrome in Manchester?!?!

His last fight was in Las Vegas against Joachin Alcine, and he was paid $85,000.

Wasn't he getting £500k or was that $500k for the super six fights?

Fair play mate. To be fair the figure of $1m was quoted to me by a brummie lad who knows Macklin very well from his Marbella training camp. I must admit, I queried the figure when I was told and did suspect that it was a touch unrealistic.

Ah sorry, I clearly read that wrong. Any idea how much Macklin got vs Sturm and Martinez?

Love the amount Josito Lopez got $212,000 plus undisclosed fee - and Maidana who is a well known name gets $250,000 on the undercard.

I think it would be around $500k a fight for super 6 as an average

Why was Ward paid more????
Why did Ward fight Kessler, Bika and Green in Oakland whilst everyone else flew all over the world ?

Even then he fought Abraham LA and Froch in Atlantic City. Ward never even flew out to the European leg of the press tour until the last date (they never even came to Britain).

No Dirrell fight, No Taylor fight - guaranteed points win or lose against Bika.

Obviously he had a better negotiator.

I cant believe Ward was not a very warm favourite before the tournament. I got 3-1 on him beating Kessler, and thats by any method! It was an open secret how good he was, even PBF was saying he (Ward) was the second best fighter in the world, pound for pound.

Tbf Ward had not beaten anyone to suggest he was the second best fighter in the world prior to the Super Six.

I still think Carl dropped a bollock not fighting Cleverley for £1 Mill. It will take him a Mack, Bute rematch and secure a Kessler fight to make a million.

Thats correct, and i had seen very little of him, but some very wise heads were saying he was the real deal. In interviews, he just convinced me, too. I dont know why either as that never happens, he just seemed very self assured but in a good way.

Did they? I didn't take much notice about him until he shut down Miranda even though he was a gold medal winner and I didn't enjoy his style or super six performances really until he the way dealt with Froch but the most exciting I've seen him was battering Dawson.

Ward was at a UK presser for the final. Pissed myself when I found out SOG meant Son of God.

Exactly. Andre wouldn't have agreed to it without the fights at home. He is building a very large fan base hat home and that means a lot to him and his promotors.

Tbh before the super six Carl still had a lot of haters and critics, now, due to the super six opportunity and his own excellence as a fighter, he is beloved and seen as a British Atg. I sometimes entertain the notion he could beat Ward in a rematch, I feel that Andre was hampered more than Froch in the fight and was great in his next bout vs Dawson. Froch of course was devastating against Bute.

By the time Carl fights Ward again the fight should be worth three times what it was, if Froch wins his proposed rematches.

What weight do they walk around at ?

Froch looks as though he walks around at about 12.5 stone whereas Clev (who is not quite as shite as some on here would say) has a big frame on him and could walk around at over 14 stone.

At the time of the fight there could be a weight discrepancy of well over a stone in weight - typical of that gobshite promoter to make an offer via the newspapers (neglecting to mention the options that he would want etc.).

yes there is a weight disparity there but there is also a class and experience disparity would would have negated the extra weight for my money. Nathan is far from crap, he's a good fighter and I like to watch him but relatively green in Froch's world and if there were no options and £1 mill in an account somewhere then he could have been fairly confident of earning it without too much risk imo.

Would you think Nathan could do Froch at LHW?
