He shouldn't have ever came back. Not many fighters have came back and have done well. Ricky didn't have any movement and was taking too many shots. He was missing many, many shots. He didn't look very sharp and his power has eroded.

It wasn't a terrible performance though. I thought he was 1-2 points up going into that round before he got stopped. Ricky should hang them up. He was a world class fighter, but he never was at the level of all time greats like Manny and Mayweather even at his prime. That's the level he's trying to get to. He should be beating guys like senchenko comfortably. It's just not going to happen for Ricky.

What now for Hatton?

Counselling hopefully. I think we've just watched a man's life come falling down around him.

Ricky needs his family and friends right now...what happened tonight is the worst thing that could happen for him personally. He came back for redemption as he didn't want to see his successful career end the way it did. He had three and a half years feeling depressed and clearly wanted this comeback to exorcise his demons and for him to end his career on a high.
This could tip him over the edge, he looked broken in that interview with Dempsey and surely he knows that there is no way back now.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing...but he really shouldn't have come back. Gutted for him.

He has had a great career, but he needs to accept its done for his own well being.

Professional help could be needed. When all is said and done he has earned a fortune and achieved a hell of a lot. Time to find something else. Plenty of fighters have trouble letting go but it was always going to happen eventually.

It could well be that getting away from the sport completely could be the best bet for him. Go and lay a few carpets again for a while!

I'm not saying this should happen, because I think Ricky should retire and focus on being a good trainer and promoter..... BUT...... I still think the Malignaggi fight will happen. They will find some way of twisting things to make it seem like a good idea, because Hatton will probably convince himself he can win and Paulie will want the big pay day.

i dont mean it in a cruel way but his whole career hes been a bit delusional (and so have us fans to be honest).

Hope he goes home, hugs his cute little baby and realises theres more to life.

You might be right...another 'comeback' fight and a win against a much lesser opponent than Senchenko and I'm sure Malignaggi will come sniffing for a big payday in the summer.

But this scenario only benefits Paulie Malignaggi...

I am in minority here but I think Ricky can continue fighting. He fought good fighter tonight, former world champion. So no shame in this loss. The only problem might be Ricky already have money and fame so for him it could be very difficult to find motivation.

Yes you are!

He needs help. He should not be boxing; what is competing and losing levels below his peak going to do for him? Find a hobby or something to occupy him. And professional help.

I think if Hatton had fought someone decent like witter first he would have worked off the ring rust and probably beaten Senchenko he would then maybe have had a shout at being competitive against Paulie.

He could certainly come back and get a win but it all depends on what he is aiming for. I wouldnt want to see him in against a puncher or anyone who could make him look sloppy. i worry about him a bit after that interview, he could do with speaking to someone else who have ended their careers in the same manner.

Hopefully he will retire. I'd like to see him keep the weight off, live healthy and help his boxers become the next Ricky Hatton.

I was very concerned with that interview. There are many fighters who have been in the same position and Hatton seems to be having more problems acceptiong it than most. I just hope he realises how much he has going for him, not just in boxing but his family, and doesn't end up back where he was.

Hatton far was easy to hit tonight and the last thing he needed to be facing is a puncher (Witter). The last thing they lose...

I agree with the last bit. Talking with some retired pro's in a similar position would help.

I wonder if the Khans come sniffing?
