I've got to say I was expecting nothing and was pleasantly surprised.

however for some reason what I had in mind before the fight was that 'Comic Relief Ricky Gervais charity fight' standard. which was clearly a bit wide of the mark.

This is the sort of thing that gets brushed over when it doesn't matter so much (hence not much discussion here). But the times when criminal officiating should be brought to light can't just be reserved for more high-level matchups.

If anything, it's MORE worrying to see it here. How can this mistake possibly have been made in a four round fight??? What excuse can the referee have? Dawson won one round with a knockdown. The referee counted the fornicating knockdown. Therefore the only explanation is that he has no fornicating clue what he is doing. I mean did he forget there was a knockdown? Or what???

genuinley wanted freddie to loose tonight, but i had him winning the three rounds purely on aggression (obv loosing the kd round). raises suspicion on 39-38 considering he got floored. did find myself laughing a lot at his right hands

Didn't get the 39-38 score, should've been 38-37 imo. Was an awful fight, he fought an absolute bum who didn't come to fight but this is the kinda guy fed to american prospects to get the ko on their record.

Probably the most unnatural fighter I have seen, is he seriously looking at a boxing career? I thought it was a one off fight, if I were him I would give up before he gets seriously hurt.

Yes he won only because he opponent was useless and hardly threw a punch. I'm no pro but done a bit of amateur boxing as a teenager but even before I stepped into a boxing gym I could throw a right hand purely from watching boxing for so many years and hitting a bag at home. If I had a former world champion training me for all those months I would have been much better than that. He looked like he was chucking a cricket ball when he threw it, lol.

The 39-38 score was agreed by all parties prior to the contest taking place, the BBBoCircuses sanctioned it

To be fair that was his first fight with just six months experience. Most boxers get that fight out of the way in their teens, I imagine they looked as poor then too.

Disagree completely. He's been able to train as if he was full-time (unlike ams, who will normally manage 2/3 nights a week at the local club). He's also had one-on-one access to top trainers in a way that no 'normal' novice would. Finally, he's 'moved around' before, both in Dubai and at Ricky Hatton's place, so he wasn't a complete and utter novice six months ago.

Oh, and despite all of that, most boxers can throw a semi-decent right-hand after about three months' training

I actually wanted Freddie to lose for the good of boxing but thought he deserved to win the bout on work rate alone, personally think that if he retires on that it the sport has been slightly tarnished by what should have been a charity event not a pro fight.

What do we expect next Darren Gough to get fit and play left wing for Chelsea, really does make a mockery of a professional sport.

Your analogy would be more accurate if you said Darren Gough to play for the likes of Poole Town (or lower).

This was an event between two fighters of a poor standard which happened to generate a lot of interest for a specific reason unrelated to ability.
