I still think Keane is the best ref in the uk. He's highly regarded as a judge in America too. WBC use him a lot.

I like Victor Laughlin.
Respect to Mickey Vann as well. I can`t think of another british ref who would have let the Earl v Katsidis fight go on as long as it did. All the other ref`s would have deprived us of a classic.

O'Conner most clangers in my opinion.
Hinds is worst. Sure he's a smashing fella but he doesn't seem to have any respect from fighters.

a lot of the A class referees are kept from moving up to star by the fact that it is the star Refs that decide on who does and does not get it, so it become very much a closed shop, I suppose they see it as a threat

I didn't get made up by the current star class referees at the time. I was made up by the Board as was another senior referee. We can only advise, the Board have the final say.
