Mike mc Callum was an absolute gentleman because he threatened the board inspector who should have known better in that he should have been concentrating on his job. Where is the evidence Tyson ever gave money to charity. Still no one defending Tyson saying he was going to eat Lewis's children or Biggs nose being driven into his brain. Or the cowards way out by biting a real fighters ear. I despair at the views of some who come on here.
Tyson had the best lawyers money can buy and he still was convicted. He can't visit half the countries in the world. So he's old and skint now, and crawling about looking for money to pay his debts. Let's all forgive him and blame everybody else.
I knew this would provoke an argument, because when you put somebody on a pedestal it can cause blindness. What would Tyson need to have done for him not to be forgiven, because I've mentioned almost all the worst offences known to man! Oh I forgot terrorism, but I don't think he was involved in that.
But I get the message , TYson was an all round good guy, he was just misunderstood.
No, I didn't say Desiree Washington 'asked to be raped'. I'm saying that it is most likely if not certain that she went to his room in the early hours of the morning with a few things in mind being what an attention seeking person she was/is. You can have the best Lawyers around, makes no difference if the 'system' is against you and your in the public eye. The Jury would have had an opinion on Tyson already, just like you did/have.

There has been much evidence of Tyson helping people and giving to charity but just as much as you say that those who put him up 'high' and look at him as some sort of 'God' fail to see the bad in him, those like you who only see the bad and want to drag someone 'low' will fail to see the 'good' in someone. Works both ways. Oh by the way. A quick link here of Tyson helping children which wasn't hard to find....If you look :TU: http://www.bet.com/news/lifestyle/2012/ ... elebrities

Many more could be pulled up, but its not the thing you want to see is it?

Yes, people 'say' things when hyped up for a fight, some more than others and you need to realise some of it is done just for the press and public reaction. Lets be honest, Tyson's irrational things he said or behaviour is what 'sold' him...And that doesn't make him a bad person, and doesn't it occur to you that things he did say at times was for publicity purposes and 'reaction'?

Yes, he wasn't the most stable person, hence the 'ear biting' incident. But that doesn't make him a 'coward' especially when he took a beating for 10 rounds against Douglas, dropped after about 7 heavy punches to the head, fumbling around on the floor looking for his gumshield, shoving it in his mouth and standing back up wanting to continue but falling in the ref's arms doesn't make Tyson a 'coward' in my eye's, neither does his fights with the big punching Razor Ruddock when Tyson was past his best. It' time to stop being so bitter and miserable in life me thinks :TU:

Holmes admitted after the fight that he was so impressed with Tyson that he didn't
think he could have beaten him in his prime. Tyson would have given every great heavyweight
a whole lot of trouble - even if he didn't beat them all he would have beaten some of them, for
sure he was a great heavyweight.

mikes fans always make excuses for him losing the big ones. if this hadnt happened, if cus had of lived, if he'd have trained right, if he hadnt have hooked up with don king, blah blah blah. Every1 loves mike but there comes a time you have to acknowledge he didnt have the mental strength or will to back up his supreme physical attributes.

I hate the whole "watch his first 35 fights" argument as well. shit look at the guys he fought, david haye would walk through that lot FFS.

Prob with mike is we all love him so much we want him to be better than he actually was.

Well, it must have been a mutual appreciation society. Holmes said it straight after their
fight (Source: Ring Magazine)

didnt desiree perform falacio on a dance floor before going back to mikes hotel room? i cant remember where i read that but i swear i did. either way, if mike tyson (a known 'fwornicator' at the time) asks you 'do u wanna come back to my room?' its pretty obvious he isnt after a game of scrabble.

i do agree with this statement, tyson fought in a very poor era probably as poor as the current crop but like the klitschko's he/they can only fight who is out there and boy did tyson beat them in style. the trouble with tyson was he believed that whoever he hit with a clean shot he would of taken out when in reality tyson was an awsome combination puncher but once rooney and cus was out the picture he couldnt be tweaked to perfection.

Right - so what - doesn't mean Holmes didn't say it. He did, I probably still have the edition of the ring magazine where he said it.

I believe that you do, I wasn't trying to imply you were wrong. I'm just pointing out that Holmes was probably being as complimentary as Tyson was being towards him too.
I agree, it was a mutual appreciation society - Tyson had nice words to say about the old warrior and Holmes responded in kind. :TU:

One of the most overrated fighters of all time and a thug to boot. Nothing to idolise about this guy. Never beat a great fighter, and was beaten by several mediocre fighters.

not to mention being convicted of rape regardles of what the mysognists on this thread think about it.

Also convicted of beating up some people on the street in Vegas wasnt he?

Discraceful man and mediocre boxer.

Whenever people ask me to name another heavyweight with his hand speed and head movement I always answer 'and yet he still lost all his important fights'. Those attributes didn't help him when he had a fighter with a bit of bottle in front of him.

Understand your points but does this mean your next post will be questioning Mayweather's legacy because he was convicted of hitting a woman? people treat Tyson as a legend because of his aggression, power, speed and skill within the confines of a boxing ring. No boxing fan is in any way condoning his out of the ring actions. In the Flintoff doc, had Tyson turned up to give him marriage advice and was treated as a legend then yes, I agree with your point. But he was giving boxing tips so let's just judge the guy on that level eh? One of the most iconic boxers ever to have graced the sport.

somebody should mention Tyson's power, speed, and aggression here, I don't think nearly enough gets made of those qualities.

not to mention his head movement, who ever saw a heavyweight move his head like that? of course, that was whilst he was still with the famous Cus D'Amato. imagine if only Cus had lived a few years longer, the kind of legacy Tyson might have left then?

he had a very short peak, of course.

Tyson is a legend because people love knockouts. He was fun to watch, but I think there are plenty of heavyweights who would have beaten him. In simple terms, though, as long as people love knockouts, they'll love Tyson. I'd rather watch Harold Brazier :)

I loved to watch Brazier and also John Meekins; I understand why people loved to watch Tyson - when the bell went for round 1 the fight was on; no messing, a seek and destroy mission; he was the best heavy since Holmes and the most ferocious and fast starting since ...

 Absolute nonsence. This is the man who did help the poor in his hometown of Brownsville and also helped/helps a lot of charities. Just that it has never been highly advertised. Also a 'conviction' does not in every case mean 'you' committed he crime, come on even you must know how the bent system works. Racist? Instead of asking the question "Was the colour of Bill Cayton and Kevin Rooney's skin anything to do with them being sacked", you could also question 'Was the colour of Bill Cayton and Kevin Rooney's skin anything to do with him getting with them in the first place'

Boardering being a peadophile? Are you serious? Teddy Atlas put a gun to Tyson's head because a very young Tyson was attempting to 'get it on' with a female from Atlas's family who was of simular age to Tyson.

Who are 'all the selfish and evil people' Tyson surrounded himself with? And what is so selfish and evil about Mike McCallum? And has Tyson spent alot of time in his company anyway?

Yes, great fighter in his early days, but it was his lifestyle later on which had more of an effect on his career rather than opponents not being intimidated.

Wonder if Desiree Washington is still traumatised? What you mean the woman who was flirting with him and went up to his room at 2am to play cards? :-? Yeah, I bet she is still traumatised with the amount of publicity and money she got from interviews etc. What 'different crime' are you suggesting Tyson has moved on to then by the way? You appear very bitter, whats your problem?
Teddy Atlas is a fuckng coward! As Tyson said about 2 years ago when he was interviewed by Graham Bensinger (when asked about all the insults Teddy throws Mike's way)

"Graham, let me tell you something. Teddy put a gun to my head when I was 14 because he knew what would happen if he didn't have that gun. I'm now 43 years of age & let me tell you, Teddy will never ever says what he says to my face, nose to nose, because he knows what would happen. If I have a problem with someone, I do something about it, I get in front of their face & show them that nobody takes liberties with Mike Tyson! Teddy is a coward. He would never ever have the balls to get in front of my face & say all the shit he does, to face!"

Tyson would have annihilated Atlas when he was 14, & he'd annihilate him now!

Doesn't mean that Tyson was in the right though and it doesn't mean Atlas is/was a coward. If I were as good at fighting as Tyson I'd not have a problem saying what I thought of someone face to face, not sure it's too good for the personality in the long run though.

I was gona put that, but the guy obv doesn't know teddys history. He was a naughty boy. Tyson talks a good street life but he was out of it by fourteen really. Being groomed for big things. Teddy was the real deal.
