You're missing the point mate.
To make this fight happen Pacman will take the short end as much as Marquez will insist on the majority prize.
Why ?
Because its the only redemption for Pac man and the suits know this fight HAS to happen.

Marquez either rematches Pacman (I have a feeling Manny may retire however), tries to get a 2nd Mayweather fight, where I think he probably does better - after all he's more active than mayweather, and certainly looks a lot more solid now, but has to be at 147.

Either that or just a cash out fight in front of his home fans in the alamadome - I'm not sure how popular he is in mexico compared to the likes of Chavez, but after annihilating Pacman, surely he could fill a football arena in mexico, against the likes of Bradley - Marquez would be the draw and command an 80-20 split, with the live gate the figures would be huge. I actually think their styles would produce a cracking fight too.

Suffered enough? He's been knocked out once in a decade! He's hardly been in untold brutal wars where he absorbed ferocious beatings.

I think mentally it might be hard to recover from, but he seemed very philisophical about it all - I think he'd be very wary of Marquez after that, and rightly so, as prior to that, not even marquez believed he could stop him.

The Margarito fight took something from him I feel.

Margarito was just too big, it was a circus matchup, a tiny welterweight smacking around a legitimate middleweight for 12 rounds.... but that came at a cost to him I feel.

Not sure what Arum was thinking really, Clottey knew which side his bread was buttered and didn't bother trying, but Margarito was a monster, albeit one who'd seen far better days.

We'll have to agree to disagree. There are plenty of rematches in boxing history where the loser of the first fight gets 50/50 or a bigger amount of the purse, because they are the bigger draw.

It's not about money for the fighters anymore, but it is for their managers.

I'd prefer Marquez vs Khan.

Marquez' problem is he really isn't much of a draw. Prior to this fight they really struggled to make him a headliner, he's done reasonable figures and money but that's because he's fought guys like Pac and Mayweather.

Obviously now everyone knows who he is, rather than the guy who couldn't get the decision 3 times, HBO should be able to do something with him but I get the distinct impression he's always been a bit of a thorn in their side with regards to money in and money out etc.

I think Marquez does reasonable numbers, I'd imagine he does enough to justify what's on the bottom line.

Certainly more so than Khan, who's paid a fortune, yet is pretty crap and isn't a draw either.

I think prior to last night, Khan was an easier sell for them, so easier to get the chequebook out.

Marquez just isn't the PPV star in-line with his talent, he's nearly 40 now and they will probably try and wring him dry in his next couple. Even against the likes of Diaz and Katsidis (probably his next best wins after Pac), he wasn't doing great numbers or money. Let's not forget not that long ago he was losing his title on the road for $30,000.

I really don't understand HBO's policies at times, they were vastly over bidding for Berto fights historically. It was ridiculous.

It's because Berto is linked to Al Haymon.

$1m for a 60 second blowout against a complete turd before the drugs bust.... more than a 50% split for the fight with Mosley that was cancelled.... ridiculous stuff.

I don't think Marquez earns much less than what he ought to do these days, it's just that some are awfully overpaid.

If Berto is on $1m, Marquez should be on $1bn!

It's ridiculous the influence that Haymon has, when Guerrero's own promoter sided with Berto in the row over drug testing. Just glad that Guerrero won - and I can't stand him either!

Haymon is definitely a power player. I think up until recently, most people didn't even know what he looked like.

Part of me would like to see Pac KO Mayweather, just to spin it all on its head, but it was always a fantasy for the haters.

I suppose that these big purses aren't possible without PPV, so it's all a self feeding machine in the end.

The Pacquiao from the Cotto fight was easily superior to anyone that Floyd ever thought of facing.

As brilliant as he undoubtedly is/was, the second half of Floyd's career has sucked bad.... fighting guys like Victor Ortiz. Embarrassing.

I've just watched the fight and I'd certainly like to see it again.

I reckon Pacquiao was only a round or two away from getting the stoppage win if he hadn't of walked onto that right hand.

Win being the operative word. Floyd would have beaten Manny whenever they fight. I'm not a Mayweather fan by the way.

Yes I want to see Marquez vs Pacquiao 5....... it was shaping up to be a return to form for Pacquaio, he was looking like he had finally got the edge on his great rival. I don't care what the score cards say - over 36 rounds previous Marquez had won far more.... aside from a brutal opener in match 1 its been Marquez who had Manny's number.

Manny was looking really good last night, Marquez looking slow and it looked like his training of strength wasn't working - then boom!

Definately want to see a 5th fight.

I was not overly excited going into this 4th encounter, i expected it to be along the lines of their 3rd fight, but i could not have been more wrong. The 5th fight is warranted by the fact that, other than the knock down in the 3rd round, Pacquiao was dominating and it appeared he was close to stopping Marquez before the KO. He was very much on top but got complacent.

After watching their 4th encounter, i will take Pacquiao to win if they do fight again. He was fighting very, very well!
