Frustrated Fan
Re: Frustrated Fan
I agree saturday_kid but as its a Goldenboy show they have the choice of anywhere except Missouri.
Would make sense to pop it on that show but think Broner maybe fighting around same time aswell.

Re: Frustrated Fan
The problem with doing the fight over here is US TV. If they wanted to show the fight live it would have to be shown in the early evening in the US which would be unacceptable to them.saturday_kid wrote:Probably will do, or have a stacked undercard/double header - Alexander is hardly a massive ticket seller, and Brook is hardly known in the U.S in relative terms.
They would have been better off having this fight in the U.K Brook is really getting big over here now.

Yes, yes, great insight. I'd prefer the Octagon myself.MacGuffin wrote:Ponds Forge is the only place for this (even then it will be half empty)

I'd go Colley Club instead
Re: Frustrated Fan
Does'nt it amaze you how many boxers can go all year training and just near a big fight stub there toe , hurt there ankle , feel sick , get a sore shoulder , makes me wonder , could it really be , the training slowed down weeks prior , and its more to do with having there opponent peak early , and not being able to peak again so soon . While all along said injured boxer is timing his peak for the future date .
Personaly i would like to see the promoter say , You had your chance Buddy , were gonna get someone else so get back in line .
That way at least the fans who paid out there hard earned , booked airline tickets hotels ect ect , might actually see a suprise recovery , not saying its the case in this fight it may be genuine , but i've been involved in boxing long enough to see the games played many many times.

Undoubtedly there are occasions when injuries aren't actually injuries and there is an ulterior motive e.g. poor ticket sales, fighter is nowhere near the weight, fighter has been banged out badly in sparring, etc, etc, ad infinitum...
However, it is so easy to pick up a genuine niggle when you're training hard and it doesn't take much of an injury to crock a fighter and put him back a few weeks. Hands, wrists and ankles are especially vulnerable, as is your skin (i.e. cuts).
I've given over trying to remotely determine the legitimacy of injuries because some of the most plausible are BS and some of the most unlikely are legit.

Re: Frustrated Fan
good post, if you cant do your road work then its difficult to reach your required level of fitness in an exact period of time, yes the injury may heal in 2 weeks but it may not, better to realise that now than nearer fight time, im sure kel is gutted for anyone who has paid for flights and accom, but i would suggest you are a bit of a muppet if you have as the venue has not even been decided yet.JLP wrote:@coneye

kel has waited 16 years for this opportunity, personally i want to see him 100% for it so we dont get a carson jones situation again.
90% fitness, in a long drawn out fight, might not quite be enough........and a beaten fighter then becomes soiled goods and gets back to the end of the queue.
cut brook some slack is my message to the public, and if he is 100% and gets beat then hairy muff, but lets get him 100% to go over there and rip the title from the septic tank!!

This is wrong on so many levels. I am deeply upset by such a comment. It is both racist, sexist, feminist, anti cross culturalist, anti muslim, anti British, xenophobic and bordering on animal cruelty. Please refrain from such terminology in the future.rhino222 wrote:the septic tank!!

GBP couldn't sell water to a man dying of thirst, not sure what the surprise is.bigB wrote:I am so frustrated and disappointed in Goldenboy Promotions and the way they are handling the Kell Brook Vs Devon Alexander fight.
The fight has supposedly been moved to LA Live in Los Angeles from Vegas which is fine but yet not announced anything by Goldenboy or on the venues website. I can see it on Boxrec and IBF website.
The fight is 39 days away how do they expect to sell 7100 tickets.
I do not want to book anything until they confirm just incase it changes again! The prices have already within 2 weeks gone up by £100. So frustrating!!
Come on Goldenboy!!! I want to book as do my friends to see our kid do the business!!!
I have also heard Lucas Matthysse is on the undercard!
