Maybe Barry will be able to confirm, to which end of the worm do you attach the hook?

A worm has only two orifices.Beltane wrote:Maybe Barry will be able to confirm, to which end of the worm do you attach the hook?
He odes overdo it on that certain ex NRL player. But I agree with all your comments.Grant wrote:I am on the outside of the fight game. Not privvy to all the goings on but have been to three or four of his nights at flemington and have enjoyed them (from the cheap seats)
The couple of times I have contacted Barry via his mobile phone he has been polite and helpful. I don't share his high opinion of a certain Ex Rugby League player but just cos I don't agree with him doesn't make him an arse hole as some have suggested here.
I think he is a good bloke and woul love to have a beer with him sometime. I reckon he'd have some stories.....
Probably be more entertaining than that God bothering clown Ettingshausen.TrainInsane wrote:That much is true. I remember seeing him on one of those gangland docos on foxtel awhile back, saying how he got jumped by alphonese gangitano(sp) or something like that. He (Gangitano) was a big punter but not a successful one, and it was rumoured he’d lost a packet when Barry Michael took the IBF super featherweight title from Lester Ellis in 1985.
Two years later Gangitano saw Michael having a quiet drink at Lazar’s in King St. Gangitano bit him and his crew broke his nose. The beating effectively ended Michael’s career.
"I was lucky to get out of the place in one piece,'' Michael later told the Herald Sun
Gangitano was a backer of Lester from memory and he was pissed Michael wouldn't give Lester a rematch after taking his title. Michael and Ellis had some colorful people in their corners Gangitano being just one.Brute wrote:Gangitano was a lunatic. Being in the same suburb as him was dangerous.

That should have read 'colorful'. I left out the inverted commas. No argument from me on Gangitano being a psycho. He definitely was one.Brute wrote:..if you like to describe a psychopath as colourful...TrainInsane wrote:Gangitano was a backer of Lester from memory and he was pissed Michael wouldn't give Lester a rematch after taking his title. I've seen and read enough to know there's nothing glamorous or likable about Gangitano. I will chase up a copy of Bezzina's book though. I see it only costs $25 too. Which is a cheap read these days.Brute wrote:Nobody outside of his family misses him. See if you can get hold of "The Job" by Charlie Bezzina. Charlie was a Detective Sergeant with the Victorian Homicide Squad and had a lot of dealings with Gangitano. Shoots down some myths about him too.
Read it on the weekend and let us know mondayGrant wrote:$9.99 on IBooks. Just downloaded it will review it soon
Barry had an 11 round war with your young brother Frank back in the 80s, didn't he, Matt? Two tough fighters after the Australian Junior Welter title.Matt Ropis wrote:I think Barry is a credit to the game.
