Re: Fury V Price at Anfield this summer... any truth

Everyone wants to see the big men, and these are big big men.
Completely disagree with pretty much all of that.mimmy123 wrote:You will never get 40K crowd to see Price v Fury. They are not big enough and there is no public interest in terms of Haye v Chisora. You would fill the MEN with a good card but no chance of 40K. I bet you can walk down any high street with a picture of Price and Fury and ask the general public who they are and I bet more than 50% wouldn't have a clue. Show a picture of Anthony ogoo and more will know that kid, but possibly not his name but lots would say he fought in the Olympics, and that's the general public.
The fight has no interest. there is nothing to see,
Will he make big bucks fighting Klit though? The Klit brothers are the champions and names in the division. They'll be the ones making the lions share of the purse.johnnykayo wrote:not a chance in hell this fight will happen, well not for a few years anyway cos its a known fact fury wants klitchko first and make the big bucks !
A Klitchko fight is catch 20-2 for Fury, it he gets the shot as a voluntary he will probably make a few extra quid but will invariably have to give team Klitchko a number of options concerning his immediate boxing career. If he fights as mandatory, there no risk of options but his purse will only be a limited percentage of the total fight purse, which might not be the best.ILikeBeer wrote:Will he make big bucks fighting Klit though? Let's face it as well, Fury won't win any fight against either Klitschko. He doesn't hit anywhere near hard enough to trouble either of them, especially Vitali, he's technically inferior to both, has a questionable chin, poor defence, would be fighting away from home and has no top level experience.ILikeBeer wrote:Will he make big bucks fighting Klit though? Got to agree with the Lion here, also i have a feeling Manchester wouldn;t lie down and go quietly here....meaning, if Liverpool get behind Price, manchester i reckkon would turn up in force for Fury, purely for the rivalry:liamlion wrote:Completely disagree with pretty much all of that.mimmy123 wrote:You will never get 40K crowd to see Price v Fury. That fight has big attraction right now and would generate huge interest if signed and made, especially whilst both fighters remain unbeaten. A huge crowd would attend Anfield for the fight, IMO.
Channel 5 has given Fury good profile in the past 12 months, at least that's my experience amongst most of my mates and work colleagues (those being only casual sports fans). By association, Price's name inevitably comes up when Fury is on tv and visa-versa.
I would happily have a wager with you about the public's recognition of Price/Fury over Anthony Ogogo.
I think you have hit the nail on the head there I think many people outside of Liverpool fail to recognise how big the sport is in the city. Obviously there is the big two teams and there is to some degree a league and union rugby interest but next up its boxing. Imagine a big fight at Anfield back to the fabled days of the earlier part of last century when it was regularly used as a fight venue.jBacca wrote:Every casual sports fan in Liverpool knows who Pricey and Fury are and the rivalry that comes with them. If the fight was signed for Anfield there'd be MASSIVE interest in it, both at home and around the country. For a start, there's never fights at Anfield so if it did get used as a venue, people would immediately be drawn to the fact that something special is going down.
If I walk down the streets in Swindon does that also apply?Wales wrote:You walk dowm liverpool with a picture of price and theyll tell you who he is, and the scousers dont half get behind their man. Also, if you think haye chisora caught the publics attention imagine what fury and price would do with their pressers! If mitchell katsidis can do a stadium, fury price can. In my opinion.mimmy123 wrote:You will never get 40K crowd to see Price v Fury. They are not big enough and there is no public interest in terms of Haye v Chisora. Being at university I've gotten to know kids from the bottom of the country to the top. These egg-chasers have no interest in boxing unless it's Khan for a world title. Still, they all know who Fury and Price are. Tina in Swindon may not care; neither may Keith the IT whiz, but the casual sports fan certainly knows the score and what will be on stake if the two fighters meet.mimmy123 wrote:If I walk down the streets in Swindon does that also apply?Wales wrote:You walk dowm liverpool with a picture of price and theyll tell you who he is, and the scousers dont half get behind their man. Whats swindon got to do with the price of fish fingers? You said any high street. I doubt swindon would be where the marketing campaign would be centred. As far as im concerned if mitchell katsidis is a stadium fight price fury can be done too, and a huge proportion of the crowd would be scousers.jBacca wrote:Being at university I've gotten to know kids from the bottom of the country to the top. The Fury hype machine has done its job.
lillywhite14 wrote:Wouldn't put Price in the top ten. Also seems a touch optimistic saying Fury can come again when Price is world champion.
I like Pricey, actually, I like both ( rare I know, these two seem to have attracted the football fan mentality, its either one or the other etc ) but I don't think either will win a world title. Especially if Wlad sticks round. He would take them both out on the same night.
