Another suggestion, although knowing Audley's history it will be rejected.
What about Lou Saverese, this guy would certainly provide a test and is big.

I would go so far as to say that Audley would stop him too..
James my good man all I can say is I think you are a mile off with Harrison. Sam is much stronger/tougher and would find that chin plenty with the right hand. No way would he be troubled by Audleys punches.
Watch the A-Force the first time he's not controlling the pace against a quality fighter, watch how quickly he tires when he's
continually forced to fire back under pressure. How many of those combos do you think he can throw before his lack of stamina catches up with him? If Audleys best punches don't get the guy out of there he's in trouble when he moves up. I guarantee it. And seeing as he is
not a world class puncher we are going to see him in trouble.
Yes. I can't understand this Samil Sam talk. I would bet everything I own Sam is the last man Audley will be defending his WBF belt against in May. The groan of disappointment when the opponent is announced will be palpable. He'll be that bad.
The title of the thread is 'Who would you put put Audley with in next?' (which is grammatically incorrect, but we'll gloss over that

) the operative word being
you. Audley may well pick some bum for his first defense but, like a few other people on here, I think he needs to be getting in with fighters on Sam's level sooner rather than later if he's going to be as big as he's claiming.

Is that gramatically incorrect? Grammar has never really been my strong point....
I think that if Audley is going to be taking on top contenders by next year, then he needs to get his foot on the gas. It's obvious that big jawed simian palookas like Hersisia have nothing to teach him...

I doubt if he will fight Samil Sam straight off. I don't think he'd learn anything from fighting Kulikauskas but might be taken a few rounds. However, if he did fight Sam, I think he would look really good against him. I just can't believe how average that man is (to have reached the level he has), and how shite Williams boxed against him.
He is strong and come forward but a total plodder. Yes, if Audley is daft enough to get caught, things could get interesting but Harrison seems to take a punch reasonably well. He shouldn't have to though - Sam is so slow.
Audley could really impress and find himself getting where he wants to quite quickly.

I think Sam is very overrated. Gomez slapped like a bitch with his punches and was able to win hands down against him. Now Audley might not be as nimble as Gomez, but he punches with more authority.
Audley may not be a world class puncher, but he hits harder than Gomez did that night.
Of course, Richel Hersisia is hardly a stiff test, but I don't really rate Sanil Sam very highly. I know he has a victory over Audley in the Amateurs, but as we all know the amateur and professional games are very different.
Audley turns away nicely from shots and what is the evidence that Sam is this amazingly destructive puncher? Danny williams has been wobbled now by Long, Meehan, and Sprott, none of whom are 'world class' punchers, so suddently getting stopped by Sam, doesn't look that big a deal.

I´m sure that he will again fight a bum on May 8 for the Mickey-Mouse-WBF-title. There won`t be a good one who boxes on May 8. The preparation time will be too short.
But for Harrison it`s time to prove how far he can come. And Sam would be the first serious opponent in his career. And this guy is tough. He has no problems fighting 12 rounds on a high level though he has a Döner-Kebap-belly. He has huge power and a good chin. His weakness is his footwork. But it`s easier to knock the Baby Mesi out.
But for a Sam-fight Harrison he has to come to germany. I don´t know if he would like that....

That's the point I'm making Ian. I'm glad someone understands what I am saying. I don't actually think a fight will be made with Sam, but it's a fight which would improve his reputation and I too think Sam is tailor made for Audley. He's as slow as shit through a funnel and is totally one paced.
Those shots he hit Danny with were coming from a mile away, Danny fought terrible in that fight, he just stood there winging away when he was hurt, and left himself wide open, again and again...
Perhaps I phrased the question incorrectly, I should have said what should be Audley's next 'big' fight?

I don't know about that...he went to the States so why not Britain? Then again, he got beat in the States...

Blimey you fellas see something I don't. Beating Sam isn't just about proving you're a better boxer technically. You've got to be prepared to work your arse off over 12 rounds. Look how hard Gomez had to work to make it look as easy as he did. Look how many energy sapping combo's he had to throw. Audley can't fight at that pace or throw anything like that many punches. Oh but he's a big guy, he just going to bully Sam, shove him around and then KO him late on. I just can't how on earth that can happen! He's not a puncher!
Okay I haven't seen the Krasniq fight yet and hope to tomorrow if it's repeated on Eurosport. Whatever my thoughts afterwards I'll let them be known for sure!

Audley Harrison is no Jaun Carlos Gomez though. Gomez is all wrong for Sam - Harrison is fast for his size, but he's a big lad with not especially good foot movement or upper body movement (infact poor).
Sam is slow, but is he any slower than Hersia? Probably not there were a few times when Sam actually landed vs Gomez I'm sure he will connect at one stage in the fight.
It would be an excellent test.

Samil Sam for me.
It might be a bit of a sudden jump, as Sam is no mug, but I'm very keen to see a line drawn through the form with Danny Williams.
I believe Harrison would win, though he might struggle at this stage. A few fights down the line however and Harrison wouldn't have much of a problem with this matchup I don't feel.

I disagree on the footwork bit, Audley displayed amazing footwork in the Diaz and Nix finishes and there was a point when Audley got pushed back onto the ropes and he just covered up and used his footwork to move out. In the list of Audleys skills handspeed and footwork rate pretty highly IMO.

John McDermott would be a step up from Hersisia, seriously.

Not disagree, just mis read what I meant by footwork. Gomez' basically faught on the back foot and and basically ran from the leaden footed Sam all night. I'm not saying Audley hasn't got good transfer of weight and balance cause he has (especially for a big guy). However, he doesn't run ala Gomez and what Johnny Nelson usually does, he usually stands quite planted and stays with you.
This is playing into the hands of the slow Sam, Sam hates runners but can handle guys who don't mind staying there well (i.e. Francis and Williams). I should have said Harrison's style is not suited that well to equate Sam's major flaws.

They should try and bring over Michael Grant over, he would be a good test and Grant has a super Glass jaw (hide style) so a Grant win would be a name on Harrison Record at a early stage

Timo Hoffman for the sake of earning a European title fight and a sure fire distance fight. If audley doesn't get a shot at krasniqi after beating Hoffmann I don't know who the hell else deserves one.
Elicier Castillo would be a good name, but dangerous. I would also say Sam as well. Sam could be trickier than people think as Audley is not a mover and the Turk as said hates movers.

Sam would be the best fight to watch Audley involved in at the moment.
Sam would not be the least bit intimidated with him...Audley would never fight him though because he knows he would be in a proper fight for once. When was he last in a fight when he was given less than a 90% chance of winning? in the amateurs I would say.

8th May so that gives the oponent roughly 6/7 weeks to prepare. So you can immediately say no to alot of the suggested boxers. I reckon either Long or Bakhtov. Neither of these I'd be happy with but at such short notice I can't see it being anyone too big. Hopefully hes gearing up for a big summer bout or at least I hope so.

Long is fighting for the Southern Area title soon. Bakhtov is signed to FW meaning a fight between the 2 would have to go to Purse bids and as the venue and date has already been announced this aint gonna happen.

Thanks James, I didn't realise. Though must admit I'm stumped now to see who he might fight. Pretty sure he will want to fight a European fighter in order to boost his ranking.

Iv mentioned Steffen Nielsen and Tomasz Bonin who are ranked highly by the EBU. Nielsen holds a win over (a younger) Julius Francis. Bonin is fighting this weekend against a debutant so he should be fresh. Bonin is also undefeated and hasnt been knocked down.

I hope it isnt Tomasz Bonin, he's awful. I think that maybe he will fight Hoffmann, Krasniqi or maybe Kulik...whoever fought Hide last week!

Kulikauskas he is sh1t, that win over Hide was not a win. If Audley defends against him I will go into exile. Hoffman is fighting for the European title soon against Krasniqui. The only other alternatives are if he is bringing in a Russian who has pushed his way up the rankings or an American guy.

I don't think Audley should fight Sam just yet. It would be too big a leap and even if he won on points (or KO) I think rounds are what he needs first against a more limited opponent.
Beating Sam would shoot him up the ratings too quickly and force him into big fights without the rounds behind him.
What about Rene Monse? Is he any good? His record makes him look like the perfect choice.
I think Julius walking punchbag Francis could also be interesting if only for potential durability.
