DeGale would have been stripped of the European title if he lost anyway, so what was the problem with him defending his title?

Maybe Kenny has a different kind of opportunity lined up ?
Who knows.

IMO Fielding vs Wayne Reed on 30/03 should be for the vacant title as its already for English then winner has to fight Smith as a mandatory??
Thought Dodson was a LHW?

That would be even worse than Smith vs Dodson for the vacant title.

I thought Dodson had retired, that Smith was to compete at middle and that these 2 had fought before.

Considering that the Boxrec rankings have Robin Reid at nine and bloody Scott Dixon at number ten, plus the rating are top heavy with world ranked fighters, there wasn'r really that much choice...the domestic division is weak as knat's piss

I can only assume that Smith shifts a load of tickets (it must be his carefree, jovial personality .......).
He just gets opportunity after opportunity at British title level, without ever beating anyone !
He has had 35 fights against the usual suspects, his career is littered with journeymen and when he does step up (eg. Groves and Degale) he gets beat.

In my experience, Smigga is a good lad. He just finds it incredibly difficult to tolerate opinions he feels are full of nonsense. Ergo, he banned himself from forum interaction...

To be fair to smith. hes fought 4 british title fights and lost 2, won 2
His problem is probably much the same as that mentioned earlier. there are top class guys who are above british level (the guys he's lost to) and some pretty poor guys below that.
I dont mind smith getting another shot, that's his level, he's a decent british level fighter. but i'd rather have seen him fight anderson for it. but you cant blame smith for him vacating.
I also think he deserves the opportunity to win the lonsdale outright
If he wins, hopefully he defends against fielding and/or blackledge, who are both guys that should have been considered for this shot.

according to........?
This seems unbelievable because he would be stripped of the title had he lost under the championship weight anyway. The only way this would seem even possible would be if he had a mandatory defence due so wouldn't be allowed to box for title against anyone else.
Smith must be a more legitimate contender than Reid was

And the 2 he won (hardly classic fights) were against 2 scousers (Dodson and Quigley).

You might be right...but he's particularly scathing of those who indulge in talking bollocks. I like him.
