sorry mate but ive explained why, surely it would be worse if you commit the cardinal sin of changing allegience, to which some football fans I know have done. Which I find a joke especially when they accusem em of glory hunting.
I did also start supporting them when they hadnt won a trophy for god knows how long, dont be duped mate the late seventies and early eighties were not a time when United were any good, if I was a glory hunter I would have supported liverpool. Asides fomr that we are crap at the min anyway arsenal are the best team in england. See if I was a stalwort red devilI wouldnt be able to bring myself to say that. hahaha
Anyway Im far more passionate bout rugby / boxing and cricket than I ever will be about football.

Here's an excellent post by gloves, whom I quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Been taking another look at Pinto/Burton on tape to try and get a better take on this one.

Plus points for Pinto - Good left jab, hard and fast, throws punches in bunches at great speed and from range, due to his reach. Work rate is good also, a 10 round fight against Burton saw him throw 758 and land 31 per cent which is not too bad, although Burton is not the hardest to hit.

Good footwork, goes to the body as well, fights with confidence off the ropes. He also took a few flush on the chin from Burton and whilst Emmanuel is not the biggest puncher they landed clean and he never looked wobbled, although Ricky will be landing with greater regularity you would imagine.

Good power (although that is an obvious one) when he throws the bunches
he looked very classy 3 or 4 delivered leaning back and they still landed or whistled just past so his reach could be important.

Minus points - he carries the left hand very low (a la Karmazin) the jab shoots out and then comes back to the thigh - not hard to hit with a right hand. Starts rounds fast and finishes them busy but does seem to have a flat point during rounds, cannot afford to go to sleep against Ricky or he will get rolled over.

He did tend to respond at times rather than initiate and against Ricky if he lets him initiate things he may not get a chance to respond. Burton was busy and only threw fractionally less than Pinto, but we know Hatton will throw more and unclear how well he will respond to constant pressure.

Long long body, plenty to aim at for the Hitman. Pinto is very lean as you would imagine and there is not much meat protecting those ribs.

Conclusion - This is possibly a fight where the loser will be dismissed as it could be a crucnhing defeat for either man, as one could see Pinto bombing Hatton out or Ricky simply breaking Pinto in half. Don't believe this should be the case though as both men are very talented and will come again despite what at the time will appear to be a shattering loss.

Not sure what to do regarding predictions other than I do not believe Ricky can take many of the combinations landing flush before he is in trouble. Of course Kelson has to land them and there is no guarantee Ricky will allow him to do that. Also no one really knows how with a body like Pinto's, how he will respond to continual body attacks."

I'll be having a wager on Pinto, I'd like to see Hatton win but have a feeling this is a bad one for him. Pinto can certainly crack.

Yes I have the same feeling two, most people I have discussed seemed to be edging towards Hatton because he's "been there done that"at the higher level. However, no one really has that many bad things to say about Pinto. He's not looked close to losing or in any trouble.

Will Pinto crack at the higher level, will Hatton expose any flaws in Pinto that the lesser opponents (and Burton is still not bad) couldn't. Has Pinto not got any real flaws.

For me, win, lose or draw Hatton has shown that he belongs in the elite band of this devision and I'm sure will bounce back should the worse Hatton. This Pinto could very well be the very best in the devision (for all we know). Personally, I think we'll find out more about Pinto than Hatton.

True. I just think Hatton is a little open at times and we've seen wobbled and floored by lesser punchers. Whatever the result I think this promises to be an exctiting fight! It's good to finally watch a Hatton fight where you actually think there's a chance the other guy might win.

Did you not give Magee, Phillips and Tackie a chance? I went for Hatton in all three but wasn't confident in any of these fights.

I wouldn't call Vince Phillips a lesser puncher, he remains the only man to ever had stopped Tszyu, and the last thing you lose is your punch.

Pinto hasn't whacked out anyone of that calibre, and his best win is still Emannuel Augustus, who is hardly a danger man.

My feeling is that Ricky walks through the inexperienced Pinto, and has him out of there inside of 8 rounds...

Phillips was a puncher in his day but way past his prime when Hatton fought him. (And off his head on crack wasnt he?) And he beat Tszyu in 97, 6 years before he fought Ricky.

I have never doubted he would win, against a 40 year old Phillips especially. Against Tackie it was pretty obvious to most Hatton would have to go the distance but would win comfortably, not saying it was a bad fight for him as doing the 12 rounds will have done him the world of good.

Anyway that comment was not meant as a go at Hatton just saying I am far more excited for this Hatton fight than I have been any of the others, I'm sure the same goes for Micky Vann.

The only other Hatton opponent that had be seriously worried beforehand was Magee.

Phillips was 40 and never a one punch KO artist anyway, while Tackie had a world class chin but not a lot else.

Most of us just don't know about Pinto.

I think this fight has come too soon for Pinto, and that's why he's been taken, he really doesn't have a lot of experience against decent opponents, and for that reason, I think he's going to struggle.

I was more worried about Phillips than Tackie, for two reasons.

1) I didn't know Hatton could perform they he did vs Phillips. I knew that was the case before the Tackie fight (because of the Phillips fight).

2) Depite his age, Phillips had beaten a previously undefeated fighter two fights previously and in his last fight ran Shamba Mitchell very close (far close than Tackie did).

Union mate, typical mouthy scrum half if you couldnt have guessed haha.
Played to reasonable level though had under 18s england trials but wasnt anywhere near good enough but played for devon and the south west regional level, darren crompton was and is a good mate of mine plays for cardiff now (via bath, richmond and bristol) and he made it as a pro obviously. Played against steve ojomoh and adebeyo who both made it as it were. Big hard mofo's as was darren. His old man wasa PTI in the marines at lympstone near exmouth so as you can imagine both hard nosed blokes.
League is a great game too though its just hard men playing a hard sport. Great to watch the top level stuff but union my real love.

Getting back to hatton Pinto like I have said Ricky if he is as good as I think think he is and is gonna be should dispense of pinto in the mid to latter rounds......obviously thats the fight you want to see if you are gonna go though hey.... 8)

I'm much more of a league man myself. It's definitely a northern thing.

It's good to see that it was Ricky who wanted this fight, i'm glad he's clearly not going to let Warren overprotect him anymore.
I think that Hatton should have enough experience to get the job done, but from the little i've seen of Pinto he looks easily like Hatton most dangerous opponent so far.
I pick Hatton to win by late stoppage.

yeah well ive live a fairly nomadic life, so bit of the notherner in me comes out when the league is on (wsas born in mansfield which strictly speaking is midlands but to many would be considered the north).
My bro and old man are off to cardiff for the challenge cup final in a month or two not exactly sure when as wasnt invited haha

Yeah I agree but you never know when boxers are an unknown entity there is always the propensity to dismiss their chances, Certainly some of the stuff Ive read here has set a few alarm bells off mate!
Just hoping for a good show from Ricky (I truly do belive he is good enough to win the decent version of the belt and more than one them), a good atmosphere and some decent fights on the undercard, either way Ill have a ball!

Frank is dismissing rumours on his site that Hatton has been injured in training.
Seems the Daily Express reported it - where do they get these stories from?!

Reggie Strickland fought 42 times in 1998, one of them being against Cory Spinks...I wonder if he was robbed! Unreal. :o
