You should have watched the Alfredo Evangelista bout, because you would have went into your room
and hid in the closet and not come out for 6-Months because of the embarrassment.
No way you were walking the streets of South Philly with a Muhammad Ali T-Shirt after that fiasco,
unless you liked to get beat up.
I did, Ali had many dull fights. You should probably avoid the streets of Philly with your homemade Frazier sucks shirts. It's a shame you have such a tough time dealing with corrections. Many of your posts are informative, then you turn into a pouting little girl.

I don't think I cried but was sorely disappointed.
Muhammad Ali was shot. He really didn't look like himself after Zaire. I don't know how much we can infer from that performance. So much of his success was predicated on his other worldly athleticism and almost unhumanly quick reflexes. When those were gone all that was left was his will.

Well, tell him to get back on his feet.

I remember this on CBS on Thursday I think. I was 7. Ali was so big back then. He had a Saturday cartoon, fought Superman in a comic (really!), I even had an Ali punching bag! I went to school the next day & everyone was talking about the fight. How often does that happen?
Ali was rarely dangerous in the 70's in my opinion. Even when he hurt guys he sometimes let up. By this time, he was really shot. He just got out worked.

Ran out of a bar without paying the tab when the decision was announced. Thought the fight was very close but didn't think they would give it to an 8 bout prospect like Spinks.
Anyone who thinks Ali threw the fight is a fool. He had too much pride to consider such a thing. He took a lot of big shots in that bout, something you don't do if you plan to lose intentionally. Watch the 15th round--it's vicious.
Ali was already shot that night. He couldn't summon it against a hungry, young, quick-fisted and energetic brawler like Leon. Like in many of his recent fights, Ali compounded his problems by coming in far out of shape.
It's a tribute to his greatness that he was able to dedicate himself one last time and prepare properly for the rematch 7 months later.

He was never heavily muscled but he seemed to have lost muscle mass in his last fights. He looks lean in the rematch but not strong.
