Why was Chisora adverised on the bill if hearing not to March 12th?

Its disappointing for those who have bought tickets for 16th March.

I doubt it. Chisora is not a ticket seller. More likely FW knows the hearing is a formality.

I always thought Groves and FW were a very strange fit.

Wasn't it GBP options that stopped him going Matchroom originally ?

Funny how times change. For years lots on this board were fed up with the Warren bills and TBA opponents and WBO bogus fights, and I never thought we would see a change. It got to a point that Sky were allowing his shows to be on PPV and it was becoming a joke, then suddenly in a couple of years Matchroom have changed things completely.

Just deserts for Franky maybe?

Any way it will get boring if Matchroom have everyone.

Matchroom looking like Top Rank, Franky like Don King but who could be GBP?

I would say the exact opposite to be honest. Groves guarantees another few shows a year, which means the fighters will have more opportunities to fight. A boxer who is boxing regularly isn't going to complain. Even more so the fighters could easily earn a mandatory off the BBBofC, which Eddie will bid for and probably put on the TV portion of the bill.

I'm not saying this because of where I am posting but you can't blame these potentially world elite fighters, for uppin sticks and moving to Matchroom

As per the article we all read the other day though, how many guys can they cope with and look after the way the are currently? - without detriment.

minimal need for childish theatrics at press conferences to sell fights

Other promotors will unfortunately just have to up their game. That must be the bottom line

Like a lot of you I can remember what Barry Hearn has done for so many sports in the UK (Snooker, pool, poker darts, fishing and even tabletennis to name but a few). BUt of course I remember the days when he promoted Benn and Eubank and Naz (amongst many domestic fighters). We started again to get regular domestic matches of sustance from a straight talking guy who let the fighters settle the domestic and world hierarchy in the ring.

it seems his son has inherited many of his traits. Long may it continue

It cost me about £300. It cost me another £500 to get piss wet through watching him minge about with his toe. I fell out with Haye that night. Didnt even vote for him in the jungle...(or buy his dvd)!

Apprently Groves is set to fight in a non title fight for Matchroom next weekend. Why not fight for the EBU before jumping ship? All about advance payment , or did Eddie insist he come aboard for the Barker card dangling Froch fight under his nose

Yes perhaps but Would Groves be privy to the fact the Burns/Vasquez fight wasn't signed? I don't think so it 'might' be signed tommorow for all he knows. .

So what is Groves going to do about tickets for his fans if he gets a big name on the Froch bill? George is a good seller, he must have sold thousands when he fought DeGale at the same venue.

OOH, i doubt it. He was taking 4,000 to Birmingham before he pulled out against Macklin. Im suprised Wembley Arena is big enough to be honest. He only lives round the corner.

If, as is being rumoured, contractual payments were not received, should Groves risk his health by getting into the ring against a decent opponent for free? Surely if he's walked out for a contractually acceptable reason then the blame lies with those outside the ring who failed to fulfil their side of the bargain and not with the fighter who has done all expected of him and is expected to risk his future health, career and earning potential?
