When McGuigan was a featherweight champ Azumah Nelson was itching to box him; it would have been a decent bout but Barry would have gotten skinned. It would have made very good money but the bout was ducked and Barry got done by Cruz and Nelson continued to do his thing.

I hope Burns makes a couple of defences and gets enough money together to set himself up well; he seems a really decent man. He didn't ought to box Broner though; he won't beat him in Vegas or Scotland.

If Burns loses he can fight for a vacant belt when Broner moves up.

Burns should not duck Broner.

It doesn't look good to the fans as Ricky is up there as a World Champion; in loads of cases though there is a top guy at the weight and the other champions don't go out of their way to get to them. Only the very best and most competitive choose to face the very best. I've seen Ricky box a few times and he has really improved, he is solid world class; I've seen Broner box a few times and I can't see a bout being that competitive. Broner is head and shoulders above the others at lightweight and will move up to face physically stronger opponents. I imagine Broner will move up shortly in any case. If Ricky got bust up he may not box at a similar level again.

Broner doesn't seem a level above Burns to me. It is well worth the risk.

If Burns was with Hearn, the Broner fight would happen.

Gavin Rees had little to lose and a lot to gain by boxing Broner; he gave it his all and came out with credit (and a good hiding). Burns has a lucrative title to lose and a 'back to the drawing board' type of thing in case of a loss.

So will Froch go demanding a rematch with Ward then if he beats Kessler then? Will he bollocks.

Would you want to watch it if he did ?
Me neither .

That's a different question, but the answer is yes. Froch has already called Ward out on more than one occasion. Froch wants the rematch. I think he's mad, but he wants it.

He does not. He knows he has lost to the better man. There is no way he will chase the rematch, just like he did not with Dirrell.

Froch beat Dirrell in a boring fight. Why would he want a rematch?

I believe Froch does want a rematch with Ward and I think it will happen.

Your wrong. He and Eddie would not dare fight Ward again, nor Dirrell.

I doubt many people will be upset if Froch vs Dirrell II never happens.

But Foch was entitled to a rematch against Kessler after a fight he clearly lost. Boxrec favourites...

I thought that Kessler v Froch fight was a very closely fought fight Mick ,could of went ether way imho , as for Froch fight Dirrell again no thank you,all Direll wants to do is avoid the fight by clinging on for dear life ...hows that a fight ?

The difference is Dirrell has done nothing/beaten noone to be in the position to have earned a rematch. Froch went from his lost to face pretty much the top 5 in the division, beat an unbeaten champion and eclipised Kessler, if anything he's ahead of Kessler and Kessler's coming in as challenger

What has Dirrell done since the first fight to warrant jumping the queue and getting the rematch? He bitched out against Abraham, cried off to avoid fighting Ward and has barely fought since. He's an irrelevance at the top end of the 168lb division, currently, so of course Froch is entitled to look elsewhere.

Froch has earned this rematch with all of his good wins since the first fight.

It coincided with Broner being the next opponent at super-featherweight, so fans like me perceive that Ricky's move up in weight was done partly to dodge Broner. Funny how Ricky made the weight a few months earlier for easier fights.

Funny how Broner made a twat out of himself by not being able to make super-featherweight against Escobedo while tweeting pictures of twinkies before the fight, and yet he could make superfeather before! Yes, let's all jump on Ricky for being the professional one, and it's strange how Ricky has looked better than ever at lightweight

and like Billy says, why should Ricky have to jump through hoops everytime Broner mentions his name? Rickys reply was actually pretty funny, Broner is a moron, and he looked to me like he was crapping his pants when Rios started talking smack to him on twitter

He beat an Abraham who Dirrell schooled, was outclassed by Ward. Bute was a good win but i think Andrade showed everyone he was not all that. Never seen a more dodgy count. Mack and Johnson? Really?

You are right. Froch is rubbish and doesn't deserve a second fight with Kessler.

Not at all what i was saying. Dont try your patronising blunt comments with me mate, i have earned the right to have an opinion by going to pro, am and white collar fights for 25 years, not writing a crappy mythical list once a month.
