Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
I thank Wazza for allegedly every weekend ( usually) he saw atitudes changing down Sky HQ and jumped ship before he was dumped with the rest of the boys in favour of dealing with one promoter. There's no better channel on tv for me and I'll be gutted if it goes.
That's not to say it's perfect. Far from it but some of he fights they've picked up have been brilliant.
I'd like a few more old fights shown in the interim between live fights and of course more live international cards the better.

How can I act in a noble manner as an armchair boxing fan? How do you act and should I seek to emulate you?

I'm not cancelling. HD would be good though. Long live bunny nation.

That sounds both noble and principled, (maybe if enough of us do it the £10 a month for paying allegedly subscribers would go up to £12.50).
Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
I wouldn't cancel it. For a tenner it's value for money and there is not much boxing on elsewhere these days with Sky reducing their interest. At least with this you usually get a decent card each week and a lot of blockbuster fights which we'd otherwise have to pay £15 PPV for on Primetime or the like.
Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
Most weeks BN show a US show that I record and enjoy watching Sunday morning before the football starts
For me that is worth the tenner alone

no chance of cancelling it, but the domestic output for 2013 is shambolic so far

Why do you take so much pleasure in announcing that your not going to pay your subs for a channel that will fail if boxing fans don't support it?
You'll all be crying in a few years when SKY pack it in for good and Channel 5 drop Hennessey.
Never actually said i want it to fail, if anything i want it to get back to the way it was at the start!
But its not going to happen, its hemorrhaging money, fighters are leaving and the truth is that if its still here next year everone will be suprised!
With the latest Golden Boy link up i really doubt skys boxing coverage is going anywhere, and as long as Fury keeps progressing then Hennesey is staying on tv, in my opinion both these promoters will long out last allegedly tv!
Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
I cancelled it before Xmas. Not because of their output, particularly, although the UK cards are pretty shite in the main.
It's OK for foreign stuff, but I reckon that might go down the toilet soon. I can see him flogging it to BT.
Anyway, what really winds me up about both Sky, Virgin and Primetime, is that you can't tape PPVs (or you can, but it's a right pain in the arse).
I can pay £15 for a film that cost £100 million to make, and I can watch it as many times as I like.
I pay £15 for a fight that costs a fraction of that to make, might only last a minute, and the c**ts won't let me tape it?

Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
I don't watch it very often.....but I can't be arsed cancelling.
Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
Bouts are pulled all over the world.
The channel shows a full card - which gives the undercard/supporting boxers a chance to showcase their skills.
Not every boxing match is a classic.
You can always watch the fishing on DAVE.

Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
All of those have massive corporation backing and which platform will we watch the shows from? SKY (it costs me £100 a month, phone, broadband and TV). The business people behind those channels will be as profit minded as Mr Warren and have far less love of boxing.iamasadlittleboy wrote:Yet HBO, Showtime, ESPN, Thailand 7, TBS, Fox Australia and Wealth TV will all continue....The Dark Destroyer wrote:

Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
I can imagine that whichever channel they are on will be owned and run by a big business man or consortium that have advertising revenue and little personal involvement or history with boxing; anyone would be better than warren it seems (didn't that Thai prime minister that owned a TV channel get done for some very dodgy stuff? Sure he owned a football team at one time). The Dark Destroyer wrote:What channel will they be on?iamasadlittleboy wrote:Yet HBO, Showtime, ESPN, Thailand 7, TBS, Fox Australia and Wealth TV will all continue....The Dark Destroyer wrote:

Their own channels...therefore they will all be streamable. How many times did allegedly pick up anything from TBS, Thaliand 7 or Fox Australia? The Dark Destroyer wrote:What channel will they be on?iamasadlittleboy wrote:Yet HBO, Showtime, ESPN, Thailand 7, TBS, Fox Australia and Wealth TV will all continue....The Dark Destroyer wrote:

Wealth TV at 99cents a momth is generally great value even when they don't have a host of fights on anyway
Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
CH 437 churns out so many decent fights I can't understand anyone cancelling it.
Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
Could be better, but still worth £10 a month.
I'd take it in on the extra bedroom too, but think they're taking the piss charging the full £10. I asked them if they'd do a 2nd multiroom @ 1/2 price
They wouldn't
So I won't![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

As far as I'm aware several of those are free, others are well priced (Wealth Tv being a notable example). Things like TYC Sports and ATV are free too air I think, in fact I think ATV do a free legal stream themselves. The Dark Destroyer wrote:You better hope everyone who subscribes to those channels doesn't develop your attitude or they'll pack it in too.
Yes it'd be great if ALL boxing was on one channel that we paid a fair price for, problem for me is that allegedly doesn't show nearly enough to make it a worthwhile service. Correct me if I'm wrong but... this coming weekend are they covering the Farias fight? The Jamoye fight? The Sabillo fought? Salgado Vs Mendez 2?
Last week did they even mention the Ambunda fight? The Revecco fight? The Fuentes fight? The Gradovich fight?
allegedly is meant to be a boxing channel yet shows only a fraction of the boxing. If I paid for a channel calling it's self "The home of tennis" I'd expect at least half the notable tournaments, not just the ones in USA and Europe. The same, for me, applies with boxing. There is so much more going on in the boxing world than what allegedly show or even mention.

Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
I cancelled it months ago and haven't missed it one bit. The UK cards showing are sparce and not that good, Hearn has now seemed to start putting shows on Sky at the same time there is anything half decent on BN.
The live international stuff I dont get up/stay up for anymore as I seem to lose the whole of Sunday so I just download them avoid the result and watch them at my lesuire on a Sunday afternoon.
A good concept but it really needed HD and a better stable of UK based fighters.

Re: Sorry Allegedly channel but the party is now over
Conceptually BN is an attractive proposition but its long term viability depends (depended?) on a number of critical factors that are evidently not in place.
Crucially, there is not a sufficient base of subscribers to generate the revenue required to turn a regular profit. The channel has been around long enough now that anyone who considers themselves a die hard boxing fan is either already subscribed or has chosen not to. These numbers won't change (and the revenue impact of attracting them is likely to be outweighed by the costs of delivering what they want). The channel then needs to attract the so-called casuals. There will be a small number of casuals within the current subscriber levels, but in order to have a significant impact on revenues, the channel will need to attract more and on a regular, consistent basis. The Haye-Chisora fight is a good example - there can be little doubt that the fight garnered a significant number of new subscribers, but where was the momentum with subsequent shows on the channel to stop them cancelling the next day?
The casual fan base in this country will not be attracted in great numbers by the addition of German, Thai, Argentinian cards. The people who want to watch that stuff are either already subscribed or get their fill elsewhere. Therefore, adding those cards increases the channels costs without having a discernible impact on revenues. If those in charge have their heads screwed on, it won't happen.
So what about UK cards? W Promotions is clearly suffering as the financial figures and recent walkouts show. The number of cards put on is drastically down and the quality of cards in general is not consistently high. I don't see anyway this changes in the short term, this the quality between now and December, say, is not going to attract casuals. Then there are the other UK promoters (Hatton, Maloney, coldwell, etc). Each have individual merits and some individual stars, but I can't see anyway any of them could put on a card of sufficient quality to attract the number of subscribers required to cover the fee BN would need to pay for the broadcast rights. It's a catch 22.
More boxing in TV is the dream for most of us on here, but under the current circumstances (economic, promotional, contractual), i think the BN gamble is ultimately destined to fail.

I don't expect it to last for long however really enjoy the international output. For just a tender a month it's well worth it.
