That night was my worst experience of watching boxing live and I've done that everywhere for 35 years.
Apart from the outcome at the end of Paul's fight, Esham Pickering and Neil Sinclair suffered devastating early ko's.
I remember Paul being a bit late for the weigh in, and rumours started to spread he couldn't do the weight.
Dehydration is a boxer's worst nightmare.
I have always felt great empathy for Steve Pollard who took unnecessary grief following the event. Everything is easier in hindsight.
I wish Paul all the very very best.

i was there that night too... calzaghe woodhall on straight after and the atmosphere was dead after seeing poor ingle stretchered out like that seriously hurt.

i can always remember seeing a cloud of blood illuminated in the ring lights when ingle got hit by the final punch. i've never been able to get that image out of my mind, even after all these years. i watched the replay many years later and couldnt see it.

good to see he is up and about and making some sort of life for himself. he's one of the north's genuine boxing heroes, just as clinton woods was soon after.

as for the stupid comments by loynsey... disgraceful

You can have all the wealth, but it means nothing without your health (as the saying goes).

I just hope Paul is often told and reminded that the boxing fans have not and will not, ever forget about him or his career - and that we all hope that as medicine improves over the years, he can somehow get as close to living normally as the rest of us and be happy.
