Alot seemed to have crolla winning this & I can't see how!
Derry was having it pretty easy with crolla running.
Derry was having it pretty easy with crolla running.
I'd rather see comparisons between Crolla, Mathews, Walsh and Mitchell and Burns with Broner, Rios, Alvardo but that's unlikely to happenbilly nelson wrote:I was only trying to draw comparisons between the three ladsdanconnollyeire wrote:No not at all if it was a Burns thread I wouldn't mention Mathews or Crolla so baffled why Burns is mentioned here like mentioning Utd on a Everton/Fulham thread pointless
You call it running i call it out boxing himhurlock wrote:Alot seemed to have crolla winning this & I can't see how!

there was never 3 rounds in that fight mate, very fair resultmarkfightoptions wrote:I thought derry had it by 2/3 from sheer workrate, not everything was getting through but its rare the judges notice that.

I agree, although I think Mathews should go after Gethin before Marsili.stujones wrote:Crolla needs to move down to Super Feather, Matthews needs to see if he can get revenge of Marsili.... onwards for both now.
Excellent fight both, well done Derry even though that might not be the result you wanted in someways I think it is a carrier best performance.... its one where you proved some doubters wrong. In the past there has been some question marks over how you can cope in a longer close fight - you passed the test.
Marsili is a fight that if the nose holds up - he can win. I still think Crolla is at least EBU level at Super Feather - needs to move down now.
So show respect to the guys at a higher level by not shouting them out simple!Bleak wrote:danconnollyeire wrote:No not at all if it was a Burns thread I wouldn't mention Mathews or Crolla so baffled why Burns is mentioned here like mentioning Utd on a Everton/Fulham thread pointless
Very True and there is no shame in not being at that level either
There is sound logic to that Billy - but respect must be shown if high class boxers face high class boxers. If an area level boxer chooses to box men who are below his level then they cannot get much respect for that. A British Title level boxer must face the same level or will not get respect. Crolla and Matthews get strong respect for facing strong opposition at their level. A boxer at the very highest level must face the highest and strongest opposition to get respect.billy nelson wrote:So show respect to the guys at a higher level by not shouting them out simple!Bleak wrote:danconnollyeire wrote:No not at all if it was a Burns thread I wouldn't mention Mathews or Crolla so baffled why Burns is mentioned here like mentioning Utd on a Everton/Fulham thread pointless

Burns has faced worse as a champion. So what if Baz Carey called Burns out would you comment on a thread of his? Difference is Mathews would defo fight Burns (who's a level above himself) but would burns fight Broner?billy nelson wrote:So show respect to the guys at a higher level by not shouting them out simple!Bleak wrote:danconnollyeire wrote:No not at all if it was a Burns thread I wouldn't mention Mathews or Crolla so baffled why Burns is mentioned here like mentioning Utd on a Everton/Fulham thread pointless

I think burns would fight broner if the £££ was rightdanconnollyeire wrote:

Not sure how Crolla has shown he cannot fight at Super Feather. He was really impressive in besting Andy Morris. He spoke of moving down to feather before he surprise chance against Watson.daviddee wrote:Looking his last few fights Crolla will struggle to get to Super Featherweight!? Who could he fight? If he fights any of the top few in Uk he will get stopped.. Proved before he shouldn't fight at Super Feather and it will again..
Marsilli is too strong for Derry IMO he should be looking at a different avenue.. Gettin would be a good fight for him. I think he could win that one. Best fight for both would be Derry fighting Gethin then Crolla fighting Flannagan for Commonwealth title then the winners fight for British and Commenwealth titles
Andy Morris got the weight wrong for that fight and came in very light if I'm not mistaken.. His body frame looks too big for Super Feather I think Truscott would school him because he lacks the power to hurt him.. He's already lost twice too Sykes.. Simpson, Buckland and Walsh would stop him.. He is best staying where he is In my opinionstujones wrote:Not sure how Crolla has shown he cannot fight at Super Feather. I think someone like Truscott would be a good starting point to see if he can make the weight well. He certainly not got the power at lightweight.
Matthews might be over powered against Marsili, but I thought at one stage in their fight that Marsili was on the verge of Wilting. Maybe I'm doing the Italian a disservice.
I'm not sure; Crolla, if he can make the weight well would do well at super feather. Losing to Sykes is no issue - Gary is a very good boxer and one of the losses was over 3 rounds. Derry seemed much the stronger and more powerful last Saturday night; against men his own size Anthony would do really well as he has just about everything going for him.daviddee wrote:Andy Morris got the weight wrong for that fight and came in very light if I'm not mistaken..
