Tony has not a fraction of Hopkins mental strength or talent. Poor analogy. Does Bellew look like he is learning to you?

I think Chilemba's defence is world class, his offence was pretty shit tho. As for Bellew he was made to miss a hell of a lot which shows he still has a lot to learn to advance on the world scene. Luckily it's 1 of the worst divisions so I still believe he could become world champ 1 day, just not going the wbc route.

The IBF route is just as tricky with Bhop being there, I can't see FW giving him another shot at the WBO, so the WBA with the Kazajasthan fella looks the most straightforward

johnny nelson and glenn mcrory had it a draw and i think mccolough did too but i could
be wrong about him. i guess world champs don't know a thing about boxing

No I don't think he is world class after watching Saturday night he got a bit of work to do yet

I think if Bellew can pace himself better, mix it up each round, instead of all-offence then all-backfoot, then he can be a better all rounder than Saturday showed.

I think a lot of the backlash is he oversold it. Being prepared to "die in the ring" and the un-sporting headbutt and angry-man routine, has given his critics lots of ammo in the aftermath. He will learn from that.

He has a lot of qualities, but measuring himself to be effective the full 12 is a priority, rather than unloading all his best work early doors.

Give them some heavy shots to earn their respect, but keep some in reserve, to prevent coasting later on.

I definitely think he is quite a tall guy for 175 and whilst he may do the weight, it could leave him weakened late in the fight. And at world class that is a deciding factor in winning and losing.

Perhaps cruiser is worth a trial after his run at light heavy concludes.

I think he needs to iron things out for a while, then re-try a bit later. He has tools, he just needs to become the full package first, to be the best he can be.

Just watched his post fight interview. What a knob. On and on about Buddy McGirt. He lost that fight due to being gunshy and nervous, that's why he had to act like he is mental. Lets see him in against a big puncher so we can really put to bed all this rubbish world class talk. He will get KO'd. Eddies face says 'money down the drain'

Bang on, because he can make the weight doesn't always mean he should, funny that he was
known as a banger at the heavier weight as an amateur and now he is not banging anyone
out. Chris Byrd was horribly beaten when he went down to light heavyweight. Cruiserweight
would be a sensible move for Tony Bellew.

Some of the things Bellew does are world class and others are not. He is not rounded enough to box the very top men in the division and win. I think he loses some energy before the bout with his antics before the bout. He has to accept that at the higher levels he is not a truely massive hitter, some of the boxers have lots more tricks and know how and can frustrate and negate him. Though he expected the win on Saturday it may do him some good. The other man gave away the first 5 rounds and didn't seem at all concerned; Tony ought to have a working holiday in the US to have some tough sparring etc - getting better at the things he did well as an amateur is not enough to get to the very top professionally.

He will still fight for a World Title ,

I remember Nathan Cleverley being blasted for describing Bomber as "fringe world class"

Lets not forget chilemba was a very awkward fighter. This was a lesson bellew will learn. And the return will be a different story, I am sure.

The LHW is very weak in terms of talent. So he will definitely capture a version of the world title. However he was made to look very ordinary against chilemba.

What does he do that is world class?

He comes in good shape, has a good jab, good straight right and strong hook. He also comes determined to win and doesn't bottle it. He doesn't seem to have the concentration or strategic knowhow to fully make best use of his strengths. Hopkins would destroy him.

The strategy is down to his trainer though surely?

He has a good skill set and on his day he is more than a match for anyone in the division.

Implementing a strategy is down to the fighter. I feel Bellew is the boss always in the gym with his sparring and does well using the same things over and over. If he meets someone who can nullify his attributes then he is at sea. When he spars he probably finds it easy to change tactics - as it is a choice and not something forced on him. In a high level bout the other man wants to win and will try their best to nulify and capitalise. Doing the same things will not get the prize.
