Very overrated trainer for me, far too quick to pull fighters out.MachoMan09 wrote:I didn't see the fight last night. I have just watched a replay. The way I scored it is not really relevant.
What is relevant is that Tony, who I really like most of the time, badly needs to sort his psychological game out if he's going to win fights like that, The way he acted at the weigh-in and last night was a total waste of energy and, less importantly, it makes him look like a cock (which he isn't normally, far from it). I don't know whether it's an inability to control his nerves or what, but if he thinks he's going to intimidate top-class opponents by acting like a 16-year-old scally might if he's trying to scare a female student into handing over her iPhone, he's badly wrong. In short, Tony, please relax, you'll have more success.
Sky would do well to have a serious think about how they want their commentators to work. Watt and his pal were awfully biased and weren't kidding anybody except, maybe, themselves. Treating your viewers like halfwits might work well on ITV but I'm not sure it does on Sky Sports, I may be wrong.
Buddy McGirt is a bit of a tool.
Derry and Crolla was a top fight and I was in agreement with the result. A third fight would be welcomed. Different commentators, or the same commentators working to different instructions i.e. no instructions, would be appreciated.

I'd agree he needs to control.himself in the ring, look at the top guys (Mayweather, Ward, Martinez, Hopkins etc) and they aren't hot heads in the ring, they are all very calm.si7dog7 wrote:u serious?Darcy Delaney wrote:i turned off after the 6th round seems like i missed something haha for me bellew is a hot head that needs to control himself inside and outside the ring he's like a big kid sometimes he's not a world class fighter but that does not mean he's not a good fighter he just needs to realise his level there are some good fights out there for him but not world title fightsfasteddie wrote:to be honest i dont know what bellew was so upset about after ther verdict,if i was him id be made up with the draw cause he didnt win that fight. it was hard to give him a round after the 4th. all the headlocking headbutting punching after the bell and poo like that is no good for the sport,if you wanna be a world champ lose the chip and control yourself after the bell has gone. I agree Macho. Chilemba didn't give a monkeys and wasn't fazed at all.

Its worth remembering that very often a person will try to hide their insecurities by switching to an alter ego.
I always think of this picture when I see silly pre-fight trash talk.

These two guys were a couple of the toughest and most fearless guys ever to have stepped inside a ring. They didn`t need to gee themselves up with silly talk.

Re: SPOILER ( BELLEW vs CHILEMBA).
I have just watched the fight and I was disgusted with the Sky commentary. They gave Chilemba no credit whatsoever and were calling clean shots by Bellew when he was in fact hitting gloves if anything at all. Chilemba's jab was the shot of the night but I don't think it was touched on once by the commentary team. Jim Watt can't score a fight and calling robbery at the end was cringe-worthy. The whole arena knew Bellew was lucky to get a draw.
I had it 116-113 Chilemba. Close but clear.

Yes - Walker and Greb.
Anybody who got in the ring with either of these guys knew what to expect.
They fought a good fight - not just talked it.
Something quite a few of todays fighters forget to do once inside the ropes.

If you go through the history of my posts, you'll see that I've been saying the Sky commentary team generally, but not always, are a disgrace, and extremely biased.Deno1986 wrote:I have just watched the fight and I was disgusted with the Sky commentary. Most of these fights are broadcast internationally too, which is an embarrasment.
Saturday was a new low though.
How they can keep Jim Watts on in particular is beyond me.
As a fan, I watch fights, and expect nice, even, knowlegable commentary on what is actually happening in the ring, not completely biased, one eyed cheerleading to the extent of ignoring Boxer A's successes, and pretending Boxer B's misses are actually clean hits.
It beggars belief, and is insulting to any knowledgable fight fan.
Sky should hang their heads in shame....

my first comment was slightly tongue in cheek
apologies to all and mostly Darcy - only meant in jest, and with no malice at all
TB does indeed need to focus more on his boxing which, to be fair, isn't too shabby. The gung ho of the first 3-4 rounds, may have won some points from some judges, but was wasted energy. IC was too cute for that.
Of course it wont have enamoured Bellew to US tv, but he would have a chance against any of them. If prepared and patient enough (in the ring.
I just like the guy as I can identify with him a bit - from what I have seen and heard of him. I truely hope he does well.

Re: SPOILER ( BELLEW vs CHILEMBA).
just watched the after fight interview at ringside and to be honest it was very cringe worthy, does bellew really believe he won the fight? and saying to chilemba that even his own cornerman said he lost, well on this site tony we are all boxing fans and pundits and believe us you lost that fight wether you are deluded or not read the posts this forum and then say buddy said you won. chilemba was the latest victim of a hometown decision, the draw saved your wbc ranking. i also didnt see one part of that fight when chilemba was hurt, another case of deluded bellew,if anyone was hurt id say tony was hurt and thats why he went on the back foot, just saying.

I had it to Bellew by a point personally but I can see a case for the draw or Chilemba winning by 1. It was that close, regardless of how loudly some on here shout.
In the first half of the fight Chilemba was worse than Tony. It certainly wasn't a good performance by Bellew and I imagine he's pissed with himself for that more than anything, but in the first six rounds Chilemba landed fornicate all. It was pretty clearly 5-1 or 4-1-1 Bellew after 6.
In my opinion of course.
(And no, I haven't heard Jim Watt, though do agree he's often awful)

maybe buddy was just being polite saying bellew won the fight ? i've said the same sort of thing when there has been a drawfasteddie wrote:just watched the after fight interview at ringside and to be honest it was very cringe worthy, does bellew really believe he won the fight? and saying to chilemba that even his own cornerman said he lost, well on this site tony we are all boxing fans and pundits and believe us you lost that fight wether you are deluded or not read the posts this forum and then say buddy said you won. chilemba was the latest victim of a hometown decision, the draw saved your wbc ranking. i also didnt see one part of that fight when chilemba was hurt, another case of deluded bellew,if anyone was hurt id say tony was hurt and thats why he went on the back foot, just saying.
i.e you were unlucky there mate i thought you just nicked it ? also by buddy saying that he's now planted the seed for bellew asking eddie hearn to get the rematch when i don't think eddie will go down that road again ? i look foward to seeing bellew fight for the european title or if enzo wins his next fight then that could be a big domestic fight ?

It always amazes me how consistent the long delays and questionable decisions are.
