I've said this on a previous thread, but I think Khan's team have realised he has to take a step down and get a couple of fights under his belt with his new trainer.

There's nothing wrong with that, but the ticket prices for this show are way off, considering the headline bout.

Khan was on Radio Sheffield last week boasting that he had already sold more tickets than Kell Brook had in Sheffield. Given that Brook-Hatton was reported as 10,000 there should be a massive turnout on Saturday.

I was in Sheffield on Saturday. Maybe Khan will be watching some snooker after the fight?

I've been on a few times to the online ticket office for this and there are seats available in every block, in some, there are more than half available.

I think the cameras might have a job trying to find the right positions to maximise the crowd.

I bet there's a lot of people out there who don't even know this fight is on

I imagine people in the cheaper seats will get moved forward or some papering of the house will take place.

You can never underestimate the power of Sky for delivering some advertising.

They have circa 3m sky magazines that land on people's doorsteps every month alone. Their website, their news channel, their ringside shows and constant advertising on fight week is unheralded in this country.

The fanbase of a fighter will always quickly buy a decent portion of the tickets when they go on sale, but attracting the wider public to buy the remainder heavily relies on the show getting as much exposure in print, online and most importantly, on television as possible.

More than likely and half the venue curtained off. Does anyone think this will affect his standing with Golden Boy? They always seem to be looking for the next Hatton and his 'homecoming' was a 55,000 sell out so he was always going to earn his keep via PPV.

Does Khan bring enough to jusitfy them financing a superfight for him?

Yeah, but Brook v Jones was about 4,500 and v Saldivia was about 3,500.

The pricing of this is disappointing because, with Khan and Ogogo on the bill, who are both well known outside simple boxing circles, there was a good chance to get people to watch boxing lice who had never seen it before. Still, if they end up with 7-8,000 there, that's a pretty good crowd in today's market.
Agree with Gomez's point about Sky. They can be remorseless with their promotion if they want to, with endless pieces on Sky Sports News, trailers during other programmes and they can bend the arm of newspapers too. In the fortnight up to Froch-Kessler, expect to be overwhelmed by the publicity, especially as they will be under pressure to make the PPV a success.

My cousin has today received two £200 tickets in the post to replace the £75 tickets he paid for and received due to "changes in production". In other words, the top tier will be papered off. Result, unless you paid for lower tier in the first place.

Really not a very appealing fight and one that Khan should win pretty easily.... Can't get my head around the Khan hate though, he has fought plenty of the names at 140lb over the last few years and has a shocking chin, bad defense and is in some great back and forth action fights. Not saying we should get excited about this fight, but if the guy wants a couple of tune- ups, with his new trainer, before a potential rematch with a dude that KO'd him, its hardly a crime. Guarentee we'll all be tuning in next time he gets in the ring with a live fighter. He's about the same age as Danny Garcia and not as good, but has mixed with a higher standard of opponent for longer, despite picking up 3 losses along the way.... Not sure why he gets criticised so much. If Khan is expected to get in their with guys like Matthyse after a loss, then how the fornicate does Danny Garcia get a pass for a rematch with an ancient Morales that he beat easily first time and an ancient Judah, who is junk, and who Khan trashed in 5 when Judah at least had an abc round his waist?

Khan's charm offensive to the Sheffield public (slagging Kell Brook off) has backfired as sales at the venue have been poor.
