Its his personality though that gets him haters. He constantly refers to himself in the third person *not that he's the first that has done that* and he's just very arrogant a lot of the time when you see him in interviews, etc.
Well possibly that's part of it, but not the whole picture. There's almost certainly a racist angle to it, to deny that is nonsense. I just think its a real shame, because at the end of the day he loves his boxing and always gives 100%. He's one of the UK's few elite boxers, and shouldn't have to put up with the level of negativity he does.
Bollocks! Amir is full of shit, and a money whore!

What was said about Roach's Parkinsons? Do you have a link?
I havent got a link but I remember what the poster is talking about. Khan basically said Freddie's parkinsons was affecting his ability to work with khan. I think padwork in particular if i remember correctly.

It's too late for Amir to change his style. Worryingly his attack(which keeps him safe) is regressing under his new trainer.

its not regressing as such, Hunter is teaching him to box that way so he doesnt get reckless and get caught. Unfortunately like you said though I think it might end up being more detrimental to him because his offence whilst has led to his defeats its also helped him in a way in a he'll get you before you get him type of thing.

Really?

Never saw any of that, quite surprised he would come out with something like that.[/quote]

Im sure he said it. One thing I would say though is im not sure he said it with malice but I suppose it ends up looking like he's making excuses.

It wasn't Khan that said the thing about Parkinson's, it might have been Asif or his Dad. What Khan said was that he wanted a trainer who would give him all of his attention, particularly after having to go twice to the Phillippines.

I cannot stand Amir keep saying 'we' all the time... 'this might be our last fight in the Uk'... I know there's a team behind Khan but seems to me he keeps mentioning it because you blame your defeats on your trainers rather than taking the flak and/or credit yourself! It's a coping mechanism... 'our defence needs improving'... And if I keep getting rocked with every shot then my trainer is to blame so I'll just get a new team!

It was a worrying performance. He would be wise to steer clear of Kell Brook, or he might end up just being the UKs number 2 welterweight.

I think he does actually have a lot of overt racism coming through his Twitter and on forums. Not very pleasant, and I'm glad I don't have to deal with such things on a daily basis.

I agree it's appalling if he receives racist abuse and should not be tolerated. But his ethnicity has nothing to do with the fact that he does come across as arrogant which invites criticism on the back of a number if very shaky showings. If you can't criticise him because he's of Asian origin the the world has gone mad, and those throwing unfounded accusations of racism are not helping their cause at all.

I suppose that's correct, but I do feel that reading articles such as those in this week's Boxing News that Amir has actually matured a lot and perhaps is a bit more realistic and humble. But it's hard for people to change their attitude towards him.

Some people are saying they are 'worried' by Amir's performance. I don't get it. Last night was no change from normal. EVERYTIME he fights a puncher he is in trouble. 29 KO's in 40 wins qualifies Diaz as a puncher in my book. Last night was at times almost identical to the skin of the teeth job against Maidana. Amir just can't resist getting involved and his chin is often hanging out to dry. I actually think his biggest problem is his own lack of power. I've never seen him hurt quality world level fighters with head shots. He out-speeds and out-lands opponents in the first few rounds every time but as soon as he begins to slow around 3rd / 4th and the opponent cuts the distance then you know it's a question of when rather than if he get's caught. I don't think he'll ever change and his only hope of reigning supreme again is for Peterson to win the series of light-welter world titles fights that's occurring because if Garcia detonates again or if Matthysse lands then it's all over.

I saw Amir getting abused by some Pakistani flag waving young gentlemen who I was chatting to last night who then proceeded to racially abuse some other UK Pakistanis. Most confusing it was.
Big time or rather big show boxing is basically a fcking zoo. That's not racist, it applies across the board. The poor marathoners gets bombed with all their supporters, dedicated athletes and heroes raising millions for charities and then these big venue shows are crammed to the rafters with utter and I mean UTTER morons.
It kicked off 3 times (three) in the crowds - that's just that I'm aware of, there were numerous other ejections and also scenes of grown men leaving the toilets having been totally defeated by the job of trying to stand still long enough to piss in a urinal. There were also a couple of kids and girlfriends around me and I would think those people would seriously not want to bring them there again. Oh it was a zoo alright, except that would give animals a bad name.
