Fury and Price needs to happen for both of them......Fury's getting closer to boxing somebody that's going to floor him and if Price gets beat again it will give Fury the perfect excuse not to fight him and I think we'll very much have a Hatton-Witter situation and we can all look back in 10 years and say the biggest British Heavyweight fight didn't happen. People sometimes think a fight's shelf-life is longer than what it really is.
A nice little fight on Saturday night, preferably on Channel 5, with a rematch-clause for the loser, you'd have millions tuning in.
For my money though Fury wouldn't want it.

To be honest though Price losing to Thompson killed his chance of a Fury fight. He needs to beat him and then probably one more of a similar standard to start talking about Fury again. As of right now Pricey is quite a way behind Fury.

We will see a new Price. He will not look for the knock outs anymore. I can it being quite a boring fight with Price using his advantages and staying away from any big shots. Price on wide points for me.

I'm worried about his chin obviously but I'm hoping his training with Lennox may help him develop a better defence which should be enough to see off Thompson. Also it was a bit of a freak shot on the ear. Either way I hope he gets back on track as I still think he's our best heavyweight prospect.

It was a perfectly legal, very average slap style punch. Nothing freaky about it. The man will get destroyed above British level. Thompson himself looked shocked with the result his half hearted punch produced.

I think he needs it. Seems a great guy though and wish him every success.

The thing is, if it goes to points he is not going to be able to avoid being tagged for 12 rounds.

And looking at that fight vs Stiverne, in headgear, when Price gets hit he wobbles and his legs go to jelly - which Stiverne himself says in that interview describing Price as 'fragile'. Not how heavyweights probably prefer being described

Add all the other occasions too like Thompson I, Fury, Camarelle, Varghese Johnson etc. it does not bode well sadly for his punch resistance :(

If Price is going to win, which I don't think he will, he will have to do so by KO.

BUT he is going to be so afraid to punch because he won't want to be left open to counters, that I see him freezing Audley style

With punch resistance it's not about you the shots you can take, it's about the shots you can't.

I was going to say I wonder if any chinny fighters have ever considered having anything like that done, I then realised the stupidity of it based on the fact they have scans, etc!

I think Price will win by KO but I would like to see him take a couple of decent shots on the chin (not the ear) before he wins. We are still unclear how well Price can take a punch.

If Price does take a couple of clean shots to the chin, god forbid, he'll go down like flour out of a chute.

All this boxing safe talk seems a bit odd to me because Price wasnt that aggressive in the fight! Yes he was the one coming forward but he was doing it in a controlled manner. The problem was that as soon as the first half decent *not sure if it was even that to be honest* shot landed on him, he was like bambi on ice!

Maybe, but just before he got whacked, he did let loose a bunch of 10 or so punches, which TT calmly avoided behind a high guard, while eyeing up Price the whole time - at which point he suddenly looked serious about causing an upset.

I think he might try for the same approach that Bellew took in the McKenzie rematch.
But I get the feeling it might go the same way as Carl Johanneson's disasterous rematch against Kirakosyan.

If Thompson had been ko'd by that shot i would be saying it was a fix/dive

This is what worries me. So many people are tryin to call this a "one-off" and a freak "ear punch" which could have happened to anyone and then citing Lennox's two KO losses as examples and of how to respond. This totally misses the point IMO. Lennox was hit on both occasions by two Hail Marys. Rahman and McCall both planted their feet and swung the punch from their boots and you literally hear it crack Lennox on the sweet spot.
This is not what happened with Price. As much as I love him and wanted him to be the man, the reason the crowd and most fans (+Thompson) were so shocked was not just the knockdown but more importantly the inability of Price to get his sh1t together within ten seconds. His core just couldn't recover. Unless Price's team admit this and address his defence it's gonna happen again and there'll be no comeback a second time.
