He's a world class fighter and one of my favourites, mainly because of his humility and down to earth persona. No where have i suggested otherwise. I just feel Mitchell has more natural talent an my point was about Mitchell not making the most of it, not necessarily about someone who has. Though Burns certainly has and for that you have to give him the utmost respect!

Anyway, this isn't about your fighter but as someone else said, only you could find offence in a compliment and that in itself is very very sad my friend.

I find it more sad that he's claiming all the glory for Ricky's success! of course Billy has played a considerable part in it but surely Ricky deserves the majority of the credit as he's the one that has got in the ring and won the fights and put the work in, in the gym.

I think FW has worked wonders for Chisora. He stood by him during his domestic abuse conviction, the brawl and his licence being revoked. In 16 fights, Frank has got him British and Commonwealth titles, Fury, Helenius, Vitali and then Haye.

It was rather eyebrow raising. At first I thought it was simply poorly written and misinterpreted but evidently not.

Apologies you have misinterperated what I ment, what I was trying to imply was obviously I teach the fighter things they have got to implement the things they learn into there work as well as put the hard work in on a daily basis.
However no other person has any imput in our training,Ricky has changed completly since the early part of his career due to what he's learnt in the gym

Fair enough Billy. I wasnt trying to say you havent played a major part in Ricky's success because you clearly have as he's improved from a domestic fighter to a world class fighter. I was just saying that Ricky has played a big part aswell because he's the one winning the fights and putting the hard work in. Thanks for clearing it up though

Good call, another London fighter, too. I have always felt FW would love a big London name again.

Mitchell's best win was arguably against Prescott. Boxed rings around him that night.

Considering was ahead going into the last round with Alvarado that win looks all the more better. Mitchell looked class in spurts against Johanesson. Definitely agree with those who feel he didn't fulfil his potential. He's still only 28 but I think he's missed the boat somewhat. For one I think it was a mistake moving up from superfeatherweight; he was always an undersized lightweight. But only he/his camp knows how bad he was struggling at the weight.

Billy, a question - did you use to train him when he was not that good ? Ie, around the time he fought Carl Johanneson ? I thought he was dreadful that night, it seemed like he just wanted to go the distance and wasn't bothered if he lost 12 rounds to nil. Were you training him then ?

I'm not having a go or being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious.

Dedication is a skill too.

If you could teach willpower and desire you wouldn't be spending your days on boxing forums (unless you were doing so from a Caribbean beach)

It is hot here in Barbados.

What I mean is, I suppose, its an ability humans have or don't have on the whole though I believe it can be learned or improved if the motivators are found.

I think we cheapen it by bemoaning the lost geniuses that didn't have it but then also then undermining the achievements of those that do.

If we look it more like a skill as opposed to a makeweight for those that don't have as much in other areas we'd have a more balanced view of fighters.

Burns is a better fighter than Mitchell and one of the reasons is he has developed the ability to dedicate himself to being the best he can.

As an example.

I agree Kevin is a good fighter and entertaining (john murray fight was one of my favourite 2011 fights) but hes not world level.. i think hes European level and he did well with I-C belt after beating prescott .. imo i think hes more of a gate keeper...

Actually a skill is generally considered the result of learning.
