You force the fight with Mayweather he punishes you Canelo will be no different to the others. To say he wins on points is baffling, the only way Canelo wins is if he catches him with something big and I struggle to see that happening.keithmoonhangover wrote:He doesn't set the pace against Alvarez, Canelo will push him hard all the way through the fight. Jesus. I really don't know what to say to that. What a laughable post on so many levels.arlovski wrote:Golovkin hammers him
It's not really a hype train, most people would favour Mayweather in a fight against Alvarez, but if you think there are more competitive match ups out there, then its probably better to just name guys who you think are more deserving of a shot or more likely to ask some new questions of Mayweather..... Or maybe you just think he should be given a 'w' against everyone out there since he's just that good and we all need to accept it. Alvarez Vs Mayweather would be more competitive and much more dangerous than Guerrero was, so in that sense, surely its a good fight?DMA1987 wrote: I would personally want him in against Alvarez next, if only to stop the horrendous hype train I can see coming over the horizon ASAP
Dead Mouse wrote:Alvarez is a great shout. Time and again we've seen Floyd struggle with bigger guys who advance in straight lines, have no lateral movement, don't have footwork and are easy to hit — he's dropped, like 5-6 decisions against those types of guys. As for creaky southpaws with limited technique who are easy to read and can have their range taken by Shane plus get themselves chinned by Marquez, he's had real problems with those types of dudes in the past.
I honestly think that Katsidis is the man for the job, his ability to walk forward in a straight line while taking punishment sets him apart from the pack.
Mayweather-Katsidis must be made, immediately.

It will become one. You can guarantee by the time of the fight the forums are alight with "50/50" fight, loads had Guerrero being a real test.CheckHook wrote: It's not really a hype train, most people would favour Mayweather in a fight against Alvarez,
People, many on this forum included, do need to accept it. Don't really see where I said he shouldn't take fights though?CheckHook wrote:since he's just that good and we all need to accept it
Why is Alvarez more dangerous than Khan, Garcia or Alexander? I would say that Khan and Alexander would be a tougher test for Mayweather than Alvarez. Alvarez is made for FMJ.CheckHook wrote:Personally I'd like to see Alvarez next purely because it is a more dangerous fight than a potential fight with guys like Khan, Alexander or Garcia who are much more likely to get a shot, has nothing to do with hype trains, bandwagons or ignoring how good Mayweather is....
I like this, and it's very true.Old bones Ian wrote:At the moment the only one to beat Mayweather is Mayweather, if he suddenly takes training lightly, but i don't see him doing that anytime soon.

Khan would eat sharp right hands every time he mounted an attack and be KO'd inside 6.DMA1987 wrote:[Why is Alvarez more dangerous than Khan, Garcia or Alexander? why put Khan in that listkamicazze wrote:Alvarez feet are too slow
Bradley too basic
Marquez same as before
Pacquiao struggles with counter punchers
Martinez at 154, martinez looked old and has technical flaws
Khan has the speed to trouble him but defensive frailties and fragile chin would leave him sleeping.
Canelo fights in spurts.keithmoonhangover wrote:He doesn't set the pace against Alvarez, Canelo will push him hard all the way through the fight. An aging Oscar ran a much younger FMJ pretty close. Good post.johnswan1 wrote:The problem with Floyd (speaking as a fan) is that he doesn't take big risks.
He was the main reason the Pac fight was never made.
He cherry picked his opponents.
When Margarito was feared, Floyd didn't go near him. Same with Pac. He also could have fought Paul Williams or Martinez but didn't want any of either of them.
At least Pac took on more challenges. Mayweather does not. Mayweather could easily fight as a middleweight - if he wanted the challenge. But he seems content to dominate at his weight, which is fair enough - he's getting paid well and doesn't need to risk his health.
Nobody was calling for the likes of Calzaghe to go up to Cruiser. But for me, the best remembered guys will always be those who seek out the biggest challenges. It's part of why I favour Froch over Calzaghe as a fighter, even though I think Joe would have beaten him. A fighter who puts his legacy ahead of his health is what will always draw the most fans. We all want to see warriors, even though it puts long term health at risk. Floyd is too clever to fall for that sort of peer pressure when his bank account tells him he doesn't need to.
Reading about De La Hoya the other day - now he was a guy who always wanted to fight the best. Hopkins does likewise (well at least post his middleweight reign). Both those fighters kept taking on bigger challenges despite critics saying they were out of their depth.
If I was Floyds son/partner/father/friend the best advice I could give him would be to keep doing what he's doing. PPV figures will prove they're not tuning out yet.
Well it doesn't really, it doesn't at all mention how/why Alvarez is the guy, just why others aren't. Just so I know, will be be Alvarez' hand speed or movement which stops him taking those hard shots? Because as that is the reason the others have less chance than Canelo, I assume you don't think he takes any? How is he going to hit FMJ?CheckHook wrote: That pretty much sums up why I think Alvarez is more dangerous than those guys..... I'd be shocked if many agreed with you that Khan or Alexander were tougher tests for FMJ than Alvarez.
Cotto had a fair amount of success against Floyd, and he's slower of hand and foot and not as physically strong as Canelo.DMA1987 wrote:Well it doesn't really, it doesn't at all mention how/why Alvarez is the guy, just why others aren't. And I don't think Khan or Alexander come close to beating Mayweather, or that they are better fighters than Canelo, just that they would give Mayweather a tougher test.

Cotto gambled, knew he was gonna take hard right hands on the way in but continually backed Floyd up against the ropes, threw in 3's and 4's, and finished on the straight left, which Floyd ate time and time again.
Mayweather is an incredible athlete but relies on reflexes, he's nowhere near as cute on the inside as he's made out (good but not a Locche, Duran or even a Toney), it's just no one can keep him there for a sustained period.
It would take someone with guts, youth, conditioning, strength to do it, put him in those positions with a decent combination puncher, give him angles to stop him spinning off, finish on the left hand as he's pulling away and leaning back against the ropes.
The only fighters around his weight that i reckon could make him uncomfortable are Canelo and Golovkin.
It's all conjecture and i'm probably talking bollocks and dreaming of a way he can be toppled, but the pedicure having, zebra print sporting, woman beating, naff goatee wearing c*nt needs a hiding, and i'm praying someone does it soon
