No early stoppages in Russia ! :salut:
Jones absorbed some huge shots and Lebedev's face and eye was a swollen mess plus he was utterly exhausted.
What a gruelling fight, :bag: :bag:

Is anyone old enough to remember Stracey v Green?

That's the only time I can recall seeing an eye injury as bad as this one.
That's the picture I was trying to get ! :TU: No I've not seen that fight. It's a bit of a Carmen Basilio eye.

That is a serious swelling, imagine how it must feel on your head with some big git punching it

Nasty ... I've never been a fan of Lebedev (I didn't like that 'extra' punch he used to flatten Jones Jr) but he showed some (perhaps unwise) bottle tonight.
No he seems like a nasty bit of work but he is a warrior no doubt. Good call on that Green swelling. Wow!

What a difference, tbh when I saw him come to the ring against Lebedev I thought he'd spent his $$ on McDonalds but he was tough as hell.

Lebedev got no protection at all from his corner or the referee. A total disgrace. The man could be left blind in one eye or permanently disfigured. Lebedev is one tough cookie. Great performance by Jones. To be honest I can't see Lebedev coming back from this.

I was really rooting for Jones in the lead up to this fight as he still looked smooth and sharp in his last fight despite his age. I never envisaged the level of incredible resilience and stamina I've just seen though at 41 years of age. Pretty amazing.

Lebedev deserved to make it to the end of the fight, hard not to feel sorry for him given how well he coped with the injury for the first few rounds and his sheer effort over the course.

Agreed

Was a joke how they let it continue. Got to say aswell that jones has got one of the best chins ive seen, walked through some heavy shots right throughout the fight

Best chin I've seen in a long time. Had no idea he was that tough.

Great post :TU:

Lebedev's was too brave for his own good the ref, his corner, the so called Doctor should all be ashamed of their 'performance' he was let down badly by all of them.

How come his corner didn't have an Enswell? That bag of ice was as bad as the glove of ice water Tyson's corner were using in the Douglas fight .. pathetic.

I agree this could mark the end of his career, that eye will be a factor in every fight from now on (physically and psychologically) his ego must be damaged too knowing that:

1. He was beaten by a 41 year old.

2. His whole 'title reign' has been an illusion, Jones was the true champion all along.
I don't think that was a doctor. He looked a bit too casual for a doctor. He inspected the eye for a second, could he not see that the guys face was totally disfigured.

Could be the end of The elephant man.

Povetkin is not special at all. He'll lose to Wlad in the same one-sided whimpering fashion as Ruslan Chagaev. Nothing fight.
