True, but Khan has achieved a lot more than Audrey

What a ridiculous thing to write. 'This century'? This 13 year long century, wow, what a long time its been.
Making an aged, shopworn Jad Zudah quit for the umpteenth time, we should celebrate Amir Khan day in the UK every time the anniversary comes around.
So comparing his achievements to Audley Harrison is in anyway sane is it?
Whatever you say about Judah, he was IBF champion and had just beaten Matthysse. Spin it how you like. Only other British guy I can think of to unify titles in US was Lennox Lewis.
And whatever people on here say about Kell Brook, he turned down a shot at Bradley and twice pulled out of fights with Alexander. When has Khan ever failed to turn up?

Just looking at Khan's interview with Adam Smith and he seems to be trying to convince himself that a move up in weight will give him better chin durability. I remember a similar interview when he was moving up to light welterweight. He comes across as being very low on confidence.

Just psyching himself up and selling himself is all. What's he going to say?
"I'll probably be slower, get tired quicker and i dont fancy my chin at 147?"

Yeah that's fair enough. Unfortunately for him, no matter what weight he is at, his chin will follow. Wouldn't mind seeing him in with Alexander.

I still think the bigger problem is his defence rather than his chin. If he can tighten up, he'll be top 5 in any division up to 160.

His biggest worry might be Virgil Hunter. By trying to tighten him up, he seems to have just made him slower

Obviously.
But there is some semblance of logic to what he said. It's not like he claimed his heart defect was cured by a faith healer.
True. I suppose when a lovable personality says something nutty people take it more in good humour. When an unloveable personality says something nutty, different story.
Using Holyfield as a comparison, we might let him off because he so consistently delivered in the elite A class. Khan is one of those guys always harping on about how he is better than the A class while losing repeatedly to B class guys and blaming it on his trainers. It can grate. I'm sure he's a nice bloke personally, and those connected to him naturally give him the benefit of the doubt, but his public persona is poor.
Hows he repeatedly losing to B class fighters? He lost to prescott thats one B class fighter - Garcia is the division number 1 and Peterson is world class and arguably khan was cheated.
I think people need to be a bit more realistic about what an A class / world class fighter is instead of declaring anyone who isnt mayweather B class.
People are talking about khan as if he is a bum he's one of the countries most successful boxers and is likely to be able to become a 2 weight world champ.

Oh, come on.
Peterson just got bombed out by Matthyse, he lost every round to Tim Bradley, lost to Ortiz, he's not A class, he's a level below. Prescott we all know his problems, Julio Diaz dragged Khan to hell after losing inside distance to Juan Diaz years ago, recently getting bombed out by Holt, Garcia has had his struggles including an ancient Judah who A class guys like Tszyu, Mayweather and Cotto beat up. Once Matthyse flattens Garcia he will be reassessed and we will have a fuller picture.
Because I don't have any jingoistic obsession with British boxers I judge them on merit.

Khan is still a very good boxer - it may take him a while to settle into welter but he was always a big light welter. If he has 2 more years left then that's probably 3 bouts. He doesn't wreck his body out of training and ought to be able to get 2 good wins out of the 3 bouts. When the man is making millions of dollars per bout why on earth would he pack in. I like to watch him, he does his level best and when he's dropped/hurt fires back. I don't think he'd beat Lucas or Garcia and doubt he'd get to the heights he was at but I was surprised he beat Maidana; welter top world class is a tough place to be but I can't really wish him any harm - best of luck to him.

You're talking out of your arse to be honest. Garcia has beaten judah, khan, morales, holt, campbell and he's considered a B class by you because Judah put up a fight against him. Now Judah is B class because Kostya Tszyu and Floyd Mayweather beat him???
Khan beat Diaz but you consider it a loss?
Peterson v Ortiz was a draw but you consider it a loss for peterson.
You're basing your argument on Matthyse beating Garcia - a fight which hasnt taken place yet forgetting that Judah beat Matthyse; someone Khan demolished and Garcia has just beaten.

I think we're in danger of forgetting that styles make fights and that having a loss or 2 doesn't make a fighter bad - some improve after a loss. We are lucky that the division is so competitive; there are arguments to be made about who beats who because they are all very good at what they do.

You're putting words in my mouth - I didn't say Diaz beat Khan, I said he, of all people, gave Khan hell. You're also adding washed up old men like Morales and Campbell to Garcia's ledger to make it sound more impressive. You're saying Judah beat Matthyse as if that wasn't a dodgy verdict.
You'll do well to find a top class win on Zab Judah's record. Cory Spinks? Yes, but he went 1-1 and that was over half a decade ago.
Whatever, we can agree to disagree, after last night I can only see Alexander roughing him up and Matthyse slaughtering him. I think his people will be keen to move him elsewhere.

My Khan doubting record is impeccable but I do think he's given a ridiculously rough ride on these forums. Can anyone direct me to any other British fighter who has achieved anything like Khan has at his age?
He's beaten Barrera, Kotelnik, Malinaggi, Maidana and Judah. He floored Peterson and really lost because some of fairly dodgy refereeing. History has been re-written on Garcia, Khan was absolutely dominating him until he landed that huge punch.
All in all Khan is an excellent fighter with some major flaws. He's already had a career that laughs in the face of e.g. Kell Brook who older than him.
I'll leave you with this thought:
Froch rightly gains massive praise for fighting Pascal, Johnson, Ward, Taylor, Kessler and Abraham.
Is Khan's record of fighting Barrera, Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Maidana, Judah, Peterson and Garcia really that far removed from that?
Khan fights everyone but gets nothing like the same sort of praise.

I must make haste, after this leaving thought; Barerra shouldn't be seen as a big accomplishment on Khans' resume; his better days were far, far away.

Alas, the day long looked for will soon be upon us, the shadows lengthen and in a little while I must depart.
I go now to that great boxing forum retirement home in the sky to sit by the fireside with Spud, lightsoot, Carbo, Payne et al to argue about Dariusz Michalczewski vs Roy Jones and just how good Peter Oboh could have been.
