You can't disagree that Buncey's got the knowledge.
The only issue for me is that despite marketing himself as John Bull to the point and straight down the middle, he is biased based upon who currently employs him.

entertaining, but in truth it's like listening to a loud mouth in a pub.

give me Bunce over plumbs like Jamie Redknapp, Richard Keyes, Johnny Nelson and whatever other trash Sky roll out as Sports pundits. Probably more a reflection on how poor the standard is in the UK for sports punditry and presenters than an endorsement of Bunce in truth.

I think he's great on his show, and as a pundit, can't fault him most of the time and he's entertaining for sure...

However on the internet he turns into a right knob

If it was a one off then fine, but it's starting to become drinking game in my house, every Bunce faux pas is a shot...if you throw in comments made by the rest of team you're going to get smashed every show.

At the end of the day he's one of the UKs last proper boxing journalists, in a world dominated by idiot blogs and err forums.

I used to like him. I can accept he has to toe the line, somewhat now. That is understandable. I don't really mind him or his mate, Steve L. I never go out my way to watch them but because they are on the show, presenting, I sit through it. It's ok, not dull, I do find Steve L condescending, but all things considered it's not the worst thing in the world.

Can't fault the guy personally. Sure he loves the sound of his own voice but thousands of far less informed people could be accused of the same thing.

Exactly. The guy does more live hours of broadcast than anyone else in the business, and he's paid to talk, talk, talk - the occasional slip up is to be expected. The guy does a brilliant job

If it was a 1 off it'd be petty but it's a regular thing, he's built up as "informed" and knowledgeable but yet makes gaffe after gaffe. I now understand why Prince Philip and Boris Johnson have so many fans.

He is a genius. I loved him going back to itv 2 days up to early setanta days. Than I disliked what he became .but recently with his allegedly work I very much respect him again
best in the business at what he does

Sky was a shocking example of closed shop "jobs for the boys" for years. Keyes and gray a prime example of two that simply didnt know the modern game. Ammount of times gray would say "get the big man on and get it in there". Neville a breath of fresh air this year, carragher will be good next year too i reckon.

Nelson, watt et al... Are a bit stagnant now, especially when you hear moore, froch and martin murray speak. Young fresh and in the game. Nelson has incorrectly picked the last 6 prizefighter winners, paul the octopus would do better.

Wouldnt bode well for his pay packet if he said "im bloody fed up with Warren and his shit matchmaking, this fights a joke". Theyre all the same, and get away with it as 90% of the audience wouldnt know wadi camacho from hector camacho. Bit of bullshit to sell an unbeaten south american whos only fought roadsweepers and we're away.

Send Buncey a press release on amateur boxing and he'll spout it out without checking the facts.

This is true. Buncey relies heavily on Ron Boddy for inside information on the ABA, problem is Boddy's info isn't always correct and biased as he gets it from the former chairman and former ceo not the current crop. They also contradict themselves one minute being all for grass roots development and slating things like the WSB and the next being all up GB Boxing's jacksie.

Remember when Bunce used to be on the BBC back in the Audley Harrison early career days? Say what you like, he's more likeable than John Inverdale.

I have to say in the past I have been critical of him but having finally got allegedly recently due to skys appalling recent coverage (or rather lack of it) I must say that I've changed my mind and have to admit I was wrong regarding buncey. I find his and Lilles double act a breath of fresh air compared with the rather sterile presenting on SKY sports 1... like the way Buncey and Lilles look like they spend all their time either in the pub or the studio lol.... and usually they are a mixture of being funny and informative. I think Buncy used to be a bit ott but he has tweaked his style and made me change my mind...

I like him.

Pros:
He has a lot of historical knowledge at his fingertips; it's clear in interviews that he has excellent recall of the past on stuff he couldn't have prepared for.
He's passionate
I love the informal style of his show, specially compared to the suits and leather and chrome of TV coverage.
He can be very funny
He's not afraid to be a bit controversial.
I enjoy the talking at a million miles an hour.

Cons:
He can be deeply annoying and cringeworthy at times. Some of the jokes miss by a mile, like an embarrassing uncle.
The "nudge nudge, wink wink, better not say THAT Stevie" stuff is painful.
He does make huge cockups.
He trips over the million miles an hour delivery sometimes, and ends up huffing and blowing like a beached walrus.
He's a little too unafraid to be controversial, sometimes trying to cook up something where there's nothing.


He reminds me a bit of Jeremy Clarkson. Sometimes I think he's a bit of a pudendum, but overall the world is more fun with him in it. If he was one of your mates in the pub, you'd rip it out of him perpetually, but you'd keep him around for sure.
